2006 Cayman S Brakes - Best Brands & Source for Parts?

My front discs have suffered the usual corrosion to the internal face and this has been picked up by the OPC at a recent service.
Over a grand including VAT for OPC to replace front discs & pads etc. and their parts only total is pretty eye watering too.
I think there have been mixed reviews on Pagid discs/ pads and I recall reading somewhere that Sebro discs and Textar pads are the best balance for cost/ performance for (spirited) road use.
I can get these together with a fitting kit, damping plates and wear indicators for under £300 at ECP with the current 30% discount offer.
Just need to work out if I have the pin or horseshoe type pads & wear sensors.
Or should I be thinking of an alternative disc/ pad combination?
Any comments or assistance appreciated.

I use sebro and textar. Perfectly happy with their performance for road use. It's the pin type of wear sensor for the textars (same as the Porsche original pads).

The worst part of doing them yourself is removing the caliper retaining bolts which can sheer off. Leaving you with the problem of drilling out the remains of a bolt and putting a helicoil in. Make sure you have new bolts to replace them with (regardless of whether an old one sheers or not).

 
I would second Steve on the the Sebro/Textar for road use, I have just replaced a virtually new set of Sebro/Textar on my R with OE however as after half a dozen laps at Oulton I was suffering brake judder - absolutely fine on the road though even after the event.......

 
I replaced the rear pads and disks (987.2 S). Very easy, the front is even easier as there are no handbrake shoes to wind in. bit of a pain to get the aluminium anti sieze grease but found it on eBay, not essential but may make life easier next time you change (note, NOT for the calliper retaining bolts. Used for the back of the disk mounting face and i added a dab on the counter sunk disk retaining screws which can seize up).

Just created a problem now though - the thin damping plate has pulled over the little countersunk screw and left the insert stuck in the upper pistons.

Not sure how I am going to get them out! :rolleyes:
