[FONT=Arial"]Hi

I have recently purchased a approved porsche from dealer. What I have noticed a few time when starting the car up on flat or incline, the large amount of blue smoke out of the back end.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal for this model of car?

Many Thanks

Normal, as long as smoke is only temporary. I have had my car engulfed in smoke on occasions. Only damage seem to be to my ego [:)] Search the internet and you will find plenty on this issue with the flat 6 engine.

I'm not sure it is normal, I've read plenty of times about it happening but for oil to get into the engine then it must be by-passing the valve stem seals I'd guess ?? Mine does not smoke at all on start up , no matter if it has been lying for weeks. If it did I'd be taking the Porsche extended warranty out when the 2 years were up.

In a conventional engine, with upright cylinders and the valves on top you are correct. However in a flat engine there are other possible ways for oil to seep into a cylinder. Even my old BMW K75S used to do this, (flat 3 engine). Unless it is excessive, I woudn't worry about it.
