What are the facts about a hardtop for this car?
My car is a 59 plate 987.2, but I would like to know about a hardtop for it, if one exists.

I think the Gen1 987 top will not fit.

Does anyone know the facts about getting/fitting one please?

Hi

A thread both you and I have contributed says it can be done.

https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=1093026

Two more things. Design911 sells parts for the roof and they say they are for Gen 1 and Gen 2 cars. Plus I don't think the bodywork around the windscreen and boot is any different Gen 1 vs Gen 2.

I have a roof and you'd be most welcome to try it, only problem is I'm in Scotland :)

Thank you!

Bit far for a trial fit mind...

There is a roof for sale on ebay, £1600.

At that price you have to be sure of the fit.

Wife won't have the roof down, so rare it is actually used, but the hard top has a wide rear window, better traffic visibility (I think).

Should have bought a Cayman!

The other referenced thread pretty much says it all. The 986 hardtop and the 987 hardtop are different. One won't fit the other. The 987 didn't change shape from Gen 1 to Gen 2 so any 987 hardtop will fit any 987 (assuming the additional spinlocks etc are fitted if needed) but very few people bought 987 hardtops so they are pretty rare, and so are cars with the fitting kit already fitted.

Yes, but hard to justify the expense, then the colour change unless black.

I watched a YouTube video this morning of a 987.2 in speed yellow with a matching yellow hard top, made me question the idea again.
