2010 Boxster - Hood creaks really bad

Hi, my first post on here, so hopefully will learn lots over time.

I have just bought a 2010 Boxster 2.9 PDK. I had a Cooper S Convertible previously, and I am so far very impressed with the Porsche. The PDK gearbox is a dream to use, and mine has the sports steering wheel with flappy paddles which makes it even more fun.

However, there is one thing that is really annoying the hell out of me. The soft top creaks and groans constantly when its raised. It is spoiling the glorious sound that the engine makes. It a constant creaking/cracking sound, and is coming from both sides, right by mine and the passengers ear! It seems to have got much worse with the cold weather.

Before I take it back to the dealer (Porsche Bolton) is there a simple fix that could save me a journey?

Cheers
Gareth

Regular maintenance means greasing all the movable joints with PTFE silicon grease ( Maplin) and keeping all the rubber seals in good condition with Gummi Pflege (ebay, BMW dealers).
As it is a new car may be something more sinister, but worth trying that first.

It's a new car! before smearing stuff over it take it back to Porsche. It shouldn't squeak.

I've never used anything on mine in 9 yearrs, but I hear good things on the Gummi-Pfledge if Porsche fail to fix.

I lived with an annoying squeak on the left hand side of the hood for around a year. I cleaned the seal surfaces and applied BMW Gummi-Pflege to all the rubber seals. Unfortunately it made no difference whatsoever.

In the end, the OPC picked this up whilst the car was in for a service. They completely cured it by adjusting the hood mechanism. It has never squeaked or creaked since. I suggest you ask your supplying OPC to sort it out.

Had my current 987 since 2005 and it's squeak free. As Mark has said get your OPC to sort it as it's definitely not correct as is

I agree it'sa job for your OPC - I had a similar problem with my 987 in its first year. After the OPC removed the fabric hood and adjusted the frame it cured it fully - 3 years laters & 30k it has not re occured.
The only cautionary note I would add is that the fabric hood does not always go back exactly as it left the factory and in certain temperatures mine bubbles slightly in the centre of the roof where it connects to the front frame. Worth checking yours closely when you get it done

Had my hood adjusted at Bolton. One guy fobbed me off a couple of times when i described the annoying little squeak, but went in to Bolton on Saturday morning and one of the technician guys sorted it in about 15 minutes. Adjusted roof somehow but didn't need to remove it, or if he did it was bl**** quick job. No problems since.
