I drove the full route Tuesday pm for a final mileage and detail check and it all works! Mileage now 132.6 total. Similar to last year, the first section is fairly open and flowing, the second, shorter section, is tight and demanding. It's just the nature of the landscape between North and South - but the contrast got rave reviews last year. The Roadbook goes to print in the next 2 weeks. Final Instructions are done.
The first section is longer at 78 miles, but that's due to being unable to find a suitable venue for the break in what is mainly agricultural countryside. Some of the views however are stunning. Binoculars might be a good idea and expect to stop a couple of times to get the wow factor. This year's route uses less than 15 miles of last year's route - amazing. You won't recognise those 15 miles either as they are driven in the opposite direction!
Entries are coming in steadily now EXCEPT from R4!!
Come on R4, Richard and I have put in some serious effort to get this far, so no more dithering - get those entries in NOW please. It would be most embarassing to have the full entry wondering where the hosts are on the 18th September!
