2015 Boxster GTS Alignment help required.

Hi

I'm new to this so there may be a thread on here already if anyone can point me in the right direction.

I love the setup of the GTS on the road, very conservative, albeit it's not quite so point and shoot as I'm used to from my E36 M3.

I want to make it slightly better dialed in at the front, especially for the occasional trackday I intend on doing. Has anyone got any personal experience in a GTS to make useful suggestions on adjustments without adding aftermarket parts?

Many thanks

James

Moved to Boxster forum as the original is for website/forum technical problems.

A lot of us swear by CenterGravity to set up our Porsches. Not the cheapest 4 wheel alignment you will find but one of the best and Chris will set the car up as you want it. The whole process is an experience in itself!

Hi James,

If you're unwilling to make suspension changes (springs, dampers and ARBs) then the only variables you have on your Boxster are tyre pressures, wheel camber and toe.

It sounds as though you would prefer a less understeering set-up. Generally speaking, to decrease understeer increase front wheel toe-out and increase rear wheel toe-in, and make front camber more negative and rear camber more positive. I wouldn't mess around with tyre pressures for road use but for track use, raising the front tyre pressures and lowering the rear tyre pressures should reduce understeer to an extent.

As Alan has said, it's best to leave the set-up to the experts and Center Gravity offer a comprehensive first class service which comes at a price (c£300+). RPM Technik is a Porsche Indy who have a lot of experience setting up cars for track days, but there are others.

I'd certainly encourage you to do some track days - it's the only way to exerience the full performance of your GTS. Enjoy your car on both road and track.

A year ago I was of the same mind as you about my 981 Boxster S. Then I went to Center Gravity and they transformed the handling. The whole process was interesting, informative and very effective and I can't speak too highly of their approach and the end result. They are based in Atherstone so not too far from you. Why not give them a call on 01827 718800?
Track days are all very well but have you thought of getting an extra buzz by actually competing in Sprints and Hillclimbs? Have a look at http://www.cmscc.co.uk/ for details of a fantastic handicap based Championship.
