2015 Carrera GTS excessive “engine brake” when down changing PDK

I bought the captionned 911 in Nov 2015 , one of the last prior to adding the turbo. I have been very pleased with in and impressed with the PDK box. However in recent months down changes are often accompanied by a jolt , which I do not recall having in the past with this model or the previous one I had. Knowing how these things can get out of hand in ones head I asked the dealer last week to check it out, they say it’s nothing to do with the box it’s " the engine brake” when you change down.....I really do not remember this in the past and was always amazed at how smooth the down changes were no matter what speed you were doing. Has anyone else experienced this ....or is it the "nut” behind the wheel? Any thoughts, advise Etc welcome

Hi, I have a January 2016 991.1 GTS which I’ve owned for 2 years, previously having a 997 GTS both of which have had PDK boxes.

do you notice it’s more pronounced in Sport Plus over say a Sport or normal, as the ‘agreession‘ in changes gear does vary materially.

also are you changing down one gear and it jolts or going down two or more gears

sounds obvious but going down too quickly will lead to excessive engine braking and jolting. I’ve had a motorbike for a number of years and engine braking is useful to scrub speed off without using the brakes too much but going down the box too quickly can lead to rear wheel locking unless you have a slipper clutch.

sure it is fine and maybe try another 991.1 GTS at the dealer to see if it’s the same, suspect there are no problems as the pdk are pretty bullet proof.

great car isn’t it. I’ve tried 991.2 GTS but prefer the normally aspirated engine. trying to get a reasonably priced GT3 991.2 as my next car and noticed the prices softening.

For what it’s worth, my 2012 991.1 PDK doesn’t jolt (even in Sport mode). Sounds like it needs looking at.
