2015 Geneva Motor Show

Hi

The Geneva Motor Show is a great place for petrolheads to see all the latest models and concept cars and very easy to get to as it is only 90 minutes flying time from Gatwick and the exhibition hall is adjacent to the airport terminal - it is all part of the same undercover complex.
Next year's exhibition runs from 5th to 15th March and entry is just 16 Swiss Francs. There are several Easyjet flights a day and the cost if you book early is well under £100. I have just booked a flight out at 08.15 and back at 18.50 on Tuesday 10th March for £76.98. Mid week flights are cheapest and there are earlier and later flights for those who can get to the airport more easily than myself.
It would be good to meet up with any other Porsche Club members who decide to go on the same day as myself.

Hi Richard
Thanks for suggesting this - great idea. I'll see you there. I have a friend who lives along the lake, so I'll combine this with a long weekend, and he will join us at the show too.
I'm flying out on Saturday 7th afternoon and coming back on BA departing 18:30 on 10th. £105 return. A bit more than Easyjet, but a bit more civilised in my experience!
We will have to arrange a meeting point and time nearer to the date. FYI my mobile is 07740 946619.
Cheers, Duncan

Hi Duncan

It was good to hear from you. Apologies for the delay in acknowledging your reply to my post. Unfortunately BA do not fly out at very convenient times - only two departures daily at 06.35 and 15.10. I can catch a train to Gatwick Airport from my local station which takes about 45 minutes so 08.15 easyJet flight is at a better time (arrives 10.50 local time) to leave. Return flight 18.50.
If you have not been to show beforehand it is well worth the visit - I go most years. I think the entry price is about 16 CHF - about £10. There is a lot to see so I concentrate on the main car halls.
I will contact you again beforehand. My email address is rdpiper@btinternet.com and my mobile is 07946677711.

Kind regards

Richard

Went last year, great show.
Flew from Luton and the show is only a short walk from Geneva airport.
Will probably go this year as well.

Met up with Richard and we wandered around this celebration of all things automotive. First stop for me was Ruff to chat about the modifications they can do to Boxsters...maybe one day! Then to the Merc stand to check out the much lauded AMG GT "" as far as looks goes, we both agreed it was a tad too much inside and seemed big on the outside. For me one of the best looking cars at the show is the new BMW i8. Then onto Porsche...and two stars of the entire show the GT3-RS and Cayman GT4 "" just as well the later does not come with PDK or I might just have placed an order there and then ;-)...

We then went our own way to wander the 7 halls that make up the show. The new MX5 looks very neat; MacLaren had an F1 on the stand as well as their new offerings; the Honda NSX and the Ford GT attracted a lot of attention; OTT stand of the show went to Renault for the light show...and well done to Pirelli for being non-PC and having a lovely model draped over their F1-mock-up!! Finally to Toyota and their winning WEC winning car...with the trophies that Porsche are going to get back from them starting at Le Mans (fingers crossed!!).
