Gentlemen,

Just wondering if there are any of you GT4 Owners/Enthusiasts who would like to meet up somewhere, sometime in 2016 ..?

It would be great to put some faces to Forum posts & Members cars and would be a great way to celebrate a very unique and special car ... The 964RS Boys do a great job, why don't we give it a try!

I went to Le Mans with PCGB and Chris Hak in May and had a great time despite it raining every day ... [:'(]

Andrew

I have tried this with R and SPyder owners and failed, the issue is the 964 boys track them the R and Spyder owners polish them.

Not sure where the GT4 drivers are at yet but many seem to say the car will never see a track day ;-(

So best bet is to hijack a 964 meet up and invite some GT4 along, you may get 3 then :)

Anglesey Porsche club track day is always a good turn out.

Olton park RS day is a good turn out, even to view, but hard to get too.

evening events at Donnington brings out a few people and it's good value with book a track.

Mr D - I live in Teesside - so somewhere in the middle would be the best bet ... Or we could meet at the Annual Porsche club gathering..??!!!

Would be polite to run it past the Register Secretary first in your case Cayman .

He might have such a meet or maybe able to organise something for the Caymans.

Regards Cliff.

Ok, sincere apologies if i have stepped out of line - far from my intention ... How do i "run things" past the chairman ... What is the normal modus operandi ..? Andrew

No apologies needed just pass it by Kevan the Cayman RS drop him an Email I am sure he might be willing to organise a meet up

for Cayman members.

Possibly advertise in the Porsche Post to appeal to a wider audience.

Just a polite suggestion to help.

Regards Cliff

There is the Bi-Annual Register day next September which is provisionally expected to take place at Kedleston Hall just to the North of Derby, about as central as can be this will be on a Saturday and having spoken to other owners including GTS and GT4 I am looking at a driving day into North Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire on the Sunday. More a social event than fast road but at that time of year there will hopefully be a little less traffic than in peak season! The largest number of Caymans we have had together so far has been 18 over the day but only 14 at a time! Next year there will be the national event, possibly Chatsworth which we have done for the past 3 years and the Register Day in September, some will go to Le Mans and the Classic Le Mans which I hope to attend and may coincide with Chatsworth. The Cayman S was introduced in October 2005 and we have around 360 register members but to demonstrate how many/region I will as in other years list quantities/region in the FAQ section, if members local to each other want to link up then I suggest that you all list your region and approximate area on your avatar which enables you to PM each other knowing you're in close locations there is no problem with having a South East or North West group or wherever you are.

I did the count up and the Numbers per Region are now posted in FAQ's, we have a total of 404 ( not an error! ) members in the Cayman Register.

I have no objection and in fact encourage members to get together in their own areas or cross borders for whatever reason they have. As I've said before, it is a good idea to place your region and approximate locality on your avatar ( If you look to mine then it shows R8, South Derbyshire R8 being East Midlands, South Derbyshire being to the west of centre for the region and so most can guess my location within about 15 miles ) this is useful if you ask a question such as "where can I go for..." etc others may be able to tell you of a local place, supplier etc or to arrange to meet up, then each know roughly how far it is necessary to go.

Kevan

If your short of numbers for a driving day in the East Midlands I would love tag along in my new BGTS it would interesting to see how it goes against a GT4 on reasonable roads if MrD and Carrera GTS also decide to go.

I have had an email from the organiser of the 2016 Register Day which is set for 10th September at Kedleston Hall which is not far off the A38 to the north of Derby.

I trust that this gives plenty of warning so that Cayman Register Members can plan how they can either bring their wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, partners or mates etc and find an excuse to get away for a day or two.

I am looking into a Cayman Register Drive on the Sunday for those who manage to stay over on the Saturday night and will of course be running it to club rules however they stand at that time, I'm unsure as to numbers permitted and so if we start a list in the new year it will be allowed to build and then when I know just who of those listed will be in attendance we can ensure that club rules and legalities are satisfied.

Meantime maybe I'll see some of you at the December open day at Cornbury House.

Anyone who has tried to edit their avatar panel in recent months will have found that it can't be done but I have spoken to the people who are in charge of the media stuff for the club and the suppliers Obergine have a ticket raised to correct this problem, it may be that we are opening a can of worms or a simple fix but hopefully in the new year we can get these updated and then people can organise themselves locally, being a small register compared to some others some members may wish to contact people near their own locality for drives etc. With details in their Avatars they have visibility at present I only have postcodes and will not hand out personal details but once the avatars have details members can see locations and send PM's. I have no objections to people socialising across the register or the club attending other regions than their own, having organised a few meets I know how difficult it can be to get a group together etc, I did set up a drive to Stuttgart a couple of years ago the list quickly filled to ten cars and after falling to two in the end we had four cars did the trip but it was enjoyed by all. So don't be put off by a seeming lack of support and of course the weather doesn't always help! If anyone does try to organise a local event then let me know and publicise it on the forum I'll give whatever support I can including doing a circular email to the members in the area but give me enough time to do such as I would have to sort out by town and postcode which isn't easy. Region numbers in the lists don't always work out to be accurate. Largest groups of Caymans appear to be south east, north west and midlands, so maybe there are some who can already start on local groupings.

Kevan

I have just bought a 2011 Cayman R, which replaced a 997 Carrera S, so I thought I would get in touch with you and ask if I can join the Cayman Register please?

Hello John,

To transfer to our register just go onto the website or forum and log in, go to My Profile at the top right and change your car details etc as you require, the record will then update and you will be in the Cayman Register. I don't know how long it takes to update but should be pretty much immediate, I know from experience it can be a tad awkward to upload a photo but persevere to succeed.
