Unfortunately, faced with the uncertainty and the harsh reality of this unprecedented pandemic, Deb & I, our R3 events team and Club Directors recently shared our thoughts and discussed at length (by phone) about the probable effect it would have, not just during our 2020 season, but more specifically the success of our R3 Regional Show.

Alongside these concerns we additionally discussed the potential frugality of sponsors and their possible reluctance to commit to spend in these uncertain times and as such, how this could also inevitably affect being able to deliver on our original aims and promises.

Consequently, the upshot of this is we all feel we certainly could not guarantee the return we had previously anticipated or expected that would allow us to cover our Club expenses, sadly, we are forced to take the decision that we will have to cancel this year's proposed Croft event.

Trust me, this was certainly not an easy decision for anyone involved and certainly not one we have taken lightly, especially as so many of the R3 event team have already been working hard in the background to ensure we could bring this northern event to fruition.

Although we recognise the question on some peoples lips will be, “Why, September is still sometime away?” I hope you will understand when organising an event of this magnitude it simply doesn’t happen overnight and realistically, when we can return to some kind of normality is anyone’s guess and subsequently puts this event in jeopardy of failure.

Deb & I fully understand our responsibilities as Regional Organisers and appreciate that our members still need to have something to look forward to when we do eventually come out of lockdown and hope we can still fit some drives, visits and meets later in the year if possible.

I know this news will come as a huge disappointment to many, so please except our sincere apologies, but hope many of you will fully understand the reasoning behind this decision and it's timing in these challenging times.

We hope to resurrect plans for a Croft event in 2021. Croft management were looking forward to the show as much as we were and of course next year will be the Club's 60th anniversary, so hopefully we can build on our proposed plans this year and create something even bigger and better for us all to look forward to here in the North East next year.

Greg and Deb, we fully support this decision and know how difficult it has been to make - but it is the right decision in these difficult and challenging times for us all, and the businesses who support us.

Jacquie and I look forward to supporting efforts to make the 2021 60th Anniversary NE Porsche show the place to be seen.

Once we have a better idea of when the lockdown will easy, and any ongoing travel restrictions, we look forward to supporting and hosting some great runs out with all our R3 friends.

In the meantime we hope you and your families are safe - Stay Home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives - Philip & Jacquie.

Very sad every event and holiday has been cancelled now for us not much to look forward too even stuff later in the year.

But understand about organisation .

Hopefully everyone can do some last minute things later in the year before the bad weather sets in.

Hopefully get back to normal as soon as possible.

Greg and Deb,

Although everyone will no-doubt be disappointed, there is no apology to be made. We all understand how much effort goes in to this type of event by you two and the R3 events team, so thank you for all the hard work so far. I'm sure at the right time we'll all be champing at the bit to get in our cars for any type of run out, even if it's just for a tea and tyre kicking run.

You'll then all be able to see my new 992.......you did say that was my prize for 17.5 points in last weeks quiz, didn't you? ....[8|]

No...?? I must be getting dizzy on all this fresh air we are breathing without contrails and carbon dioxide....

Keep up the good work... and stay safe everyone !

Greg, Deb and all the Events Team members. No apology needed at all folks. I think most of us were expecting it to be cancelled. It‘s impossible to organise an event like this at the moment when no one knows how long this awful pandemic is going to last. Many thanks to all of you for the time and effort you have put in to date - it’s very much appreciated. Stay well and safe everyone.

The only decision that could be made and I am sure everyone will understand.

I am looking forward to getting back to whatever normal will be, asap.

Look out ducks I have more power and 4wd.

🙃

At least you'll be able to get out of the field un-added now... looking forward to seeing the new wheels Mark :ROFLMAO:

Stay safe - Philip

Shame it has to be cancelled but 1 - It’s no surprise with the current situation and 2 - starting there on the 60th anniversary is good timing!

Absolutely the right (but tough) decision and supported wholeheartedly by us 👍.

An exciting innovation so understandably must have been a massive disappointment to have to make this decision. Looking forward to taking an active part in the future though 👍

I've just sent away for a 'Year of the Cancelled Rally' plate. Cost £10 and all monies going to NHS. Available through PCGB. This is an extraordinary season and sooo frustrating but given the possible alternatives I'll follow guidelines and remain patient.

Crikey, we are all going to enjoy driving our cars so much more when we are the other side of this . . .

Thank you for the hours put into this so far and for making the right decision to keep us all safe 👍.

Hi Greg & Deb. I can't see how this could go any other way. Well done for taking the decision as it is now one less thing for folk to worry about in these difficult times. I suggest that, when we are allowed to use our cars again, and if we get some sunshine, we find a good open space and congregate for a picnic. Top of Hartside perhaps.

Sorry I haven’t been on here for a while but totally understand & support your decision. Things are so uncertain at the moment, it would have been a huge risk to take.

From a personal point of view we wouldn’t have been able to make it as we are supposedly in the Dordogne, France then but of course that is all up for debate - doubt it will happen (along with our previous holidays planned).

Hopefully we might get out for a drive soon.

Everyone keep safe & well.
