2024 Cayenne (base) Allocation timescale

Hi Guys first post on the forum.
I am a previous 911 992 Carrera 4S owner!
due to family expansion ( new born twins) sadly the 992 had to go and the Cayenne had to come.
I just ordered a base 2024 Cayenne V6, its my first time ordering from porsche "new” with the spec of my choice.
I am well aware of the "porsche world” and i ordered the car from the same dealer i sold the 992 from hoping for a slightly quicker allocation/build slot time
Does anyone have a rough indication of how long a allocation would take on a new car like this? My 992 was second hand so i have no real experience in this field.

here is the spec i went for in the end

Arctic grey, lightweight pack, carbon mirrors , bose , performance tyres , air susp, sport chrono, alcantara steering wheel, roof spoiler high gloss black, turbo gt wheels, door handles in high gloss, privact glass, surrond park.

Very excited to receive the car just no real indication of when!

thanks

Sukhraj

Welcome to the Forum and enjoy your twins. In my experience the first 34 years are the worst. So far... [:)]

Your dealer will be best placed to know what their allocation and timescales are. Any guesstimates on my part are pure conjecture.

The Cayenne is a great family bus, we've had five of them since 2003, so 20 years and very little in the way of issues and probably in the order of 250,000 miles in total.

haha thanks mate!

all the dealer said to me is youll have the car Q1 2024. so does this mean the first quarter meaning jan-april time.

If that is so when should i be receiving a build slot? so i can track the build and eta.

regards

S

Q1 is Jan to March and there are usually a few weeks prior that the dealer can track progress of the build. So maybe next month if you're lucky. It sounds as though your spec is locked so could be sooner rather than later.

thanks Pete for quick replies.
Sometimes to be honest i think they just say things so you place a order. I mean we will never really know if we are getting the car in Q1 next year untill we jusr wait,
I dont think my spec is locked as they havent asked for final spec etc.
Am i correct in think dealerships that are owned by Porsche OPC get more allocations rather than dealerships owned by JCT, Sytner etc?

Morning Sukhraj & welcome to the forum, you certainly won’t be disappointed with your new Cayenne, your spec looks great.

Peter is spot on regarding timing, the only delay may be that a number of new Cayennes are still held up at the dealerships waiting for a few updates before they can be finally handed over to their new customers.

Unfortunately, one of these is my new E Hybrid which even before delivery has two recall codes;
WPR6 Carry out additional quality measures. (could be anything really)
WPQ8 Review supply fuel line & return line and rework if necessary.

My understanding is that these items need to be fully checked, corrected and signed off before they can be handed over, which is creating a bit of a back log. That said, clearly Porsche are now aware of these issues, so hopefully any new builds will not be subject to the same teething problems.

Regarding your Official Porsche Centre (OPC) question, yes generally the most successful dealerships tend to get the largest allocations, but on the flip side they also usually have the biggest waiting lists.

Hi Greg. congrats on your new e hybrid! any pics of the build?

the funny thing is i literally just got a call from my salesman just now saying im next in the queue for the allocation!. prior to this phone call i was 4th 3 weeks ago. they seem to get them quick or hes just saying that haha. either way the excitement has begun.

Good news and don't forget to spec the towbar for the trailer with all the twins kit...

My wife is also waiting for her new Cayenne E Hybrid, which has been at the dealership now for over 6 weeks, we understand that there has been four stop delivery recall campaigns and the final, a software fix, is not due to be delivered to the dealers until around 5 December. So, we are patiently waiting and hoping for a December delivery.

Hi Jonathan, like you I’m really looking forward to getting the keys to the new Cayenne, the new one is actually Deb’s, I have an old E1 I’m planning on turning into an overland project when time allows.

Regarding Sukhraj’s question of normal lead times, I find they can vary quite a lot, it often depends on model type, additional spec and time of year but I usually find from deposit to handover, 6-7 months tends to be the norm for a new Cayenne.

Hi All
We're lucky enough to be getting a new eHybrid Cayenne too. Like Cranleigh22 we are waiting for the 5th December s/w patch and car is currently on stop sale. Hoping to collect end of next week some time. PRGE4DV4 is our configurator code for anyone interested in spec we've gone for.

Has anyone got experience of driving in the alps with snow chains/socks in a Cayenne?

Morning Paul, your build looks awesome and a really nice spec. Sorry I can’t help with your snow chain question question but hopefully someone will be able to help. I have to say I’m more than a little envious of you taking your new Cayenne to the Alps, don’t forget to share a few snaps with the register when you go.
