20k up

I have just been robbed of nearly £450 inc vat for my first 20k service.

Interestingly at AFN Guildford they thought my car may be one of the first to be serviced. In fact when I phoned to book they said you do know it is now 20k intervals and not 12k.

Has else actually used their car everyday rain or shine?

Jon

Well I don't know what they did, but total servicing costs of £380 + Vat doesn't seem much for 20,000 miles use on a £70,000 car.

I just had an annual service on my John Dere 'ride-on' - £350 + Vat, and it is only used once a week for six months of the year.

If you really want to feel robbed, ask the salesman for a 'trade-in' price[:-]

[] It appears you have been robbed ... According to the fixed price service menu your OPC should have taken £342.00 incl VAT off you for the 20K service! Assuming your car isn't 2 years old, when he could have helped himself to a further £107.00 for the brake fluid change. Brake Fluid service is a time related service ie every 24 months regardless of mileage [&o]

Why is it audi only charged £254-00 inc vat on a 18k service on an S3.

I know the 911 has more oil but I can see that is the only difference.

I would not dare ask for a trade in although the amount I lost on my last 996 I plan just to use the car, I have a perverse idea that the car will reach a low value regardless of mileage so I may as well use it.
Although 20k in 7 months looks worrying for when it is 3 years old.

Brake fluid is every 2 years regardless of milage - it's hydroscopic, it absorbs water over time.

Exactly so it would appear daylight robbery has taken place here after all []

[] Jon ... I think you were robbed if all you had was the 20K service and no brake fluid change!

They also replaced the air filter @ 32.13 plus vat.

10 litres of mobil one @ £11.50 plus vat per litre!!!

According to OPC website info all that is standard on 20K service and therefore included in fixed price servicing:-

I have just phoned AFN who looked at the website costs and agree it should be £342-00inc vat.

Thay are going to call me back but it looks as if they owe me.

The filter was oil not air I cant read the invoice.

Jon

Curious, the link I found above says:

911 (997 since Model Year 2005)
Engine oil every 20,000 miles / 32,000 km or every 2 years
Spark plugs every 60,000 miles / 96,000 km or every 4 years
Oil-filter element every 20,000 miles / 32,000 km or every 2 years
Air-filter element every 40,000 miles / 64,000 km or every 4 years
Fuel filters are maintenance-free
Coolant does not require changing

So the Air Filter wasn't due? Is this another conflict in Porsche's own information?

If you want outrage they have upodated my sat nav FOC to get TMC working, but now thay want £350ish for anew set of discs to make it wouk UK!!!!!

[:D] I should have bet it would be an AFN scam! Makes you wonder if they can't invoice without trying it on what the feck happens when using the spanners [] I could tell you stories about my dealings with AFN Chiswick that you just wouldn't believe! An example ... I check tyre pressures once every 6 weeks usually a lb or 2 out. Checked tyres the day after a small service was done at Chiswick and guess what ... 4 different pressures and not a single one as per recommended in book!
Oil the usual 3/4 litre short filled too!

Imagine if they overcharged every 20K Mile Service customer like they did you, and nobody spotted it, how many free mechanics a week that could buy :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Jonathan, (sptel)
How did AFN update PCM to make TMC work? My local OPC doesn't have any software upgrades available. Like you, I wouldn't pay anyway.
