20mm spacer front wheels

Do you guys think it's a good idea to put 20mm spacers on the front? I guess I will need a longer stud?

It's just that I found a 7.5j ET35 Rims that I want to push out an extra centimetre and a bit (otherwise a 6mm spacer would suffice, and apparently can still use the stock studs).

This is for a square dash 944, ET23 offset I believe.


Also out of topic question: Where can I buy insulation pads for the bonnet? Or any good DIY buy the material and cut-yourself guides?
 
Don't bother: {orsche stopped fitting them in 1988.

For the spacers and studs, Id suggest using the rear spacers and studs from a series one rear. These were fitted to all early dah 944s to widen the track over that of the 924 Turbo.

I searched bonnet shots of S2's and none of them had any insulation lining at all. (Google images anyway)

Cool, guess I will have a look at series one 944's for spare rear studs/spacers and transplant them to my front axles.
 
I might just have a pair of 20mm spacers from the series 1 rears, that I could poss be persuaded to sell.. No long studs though...

That's because none of them ever had it factory fitted. The only time you're likely to see it is if someone has mistakenly fitted it later in the car's life because they thought it should have it. There isn't even a part number shown for under-bonnet insulation in the "up to '91" parts catalogue. That document covers MY 89 and onwards cars including the 944 2.7, S2 and Turbo.

Agree. The only advantage you get from using the OEM series one rear studs and spacers is that theyre worth nothing and breakers like PH would sell them for a couple of pounds. If youre buying new then buy spacers which have new studs mounted in them.
