23mm Master cylinder upgrade advice please

Hi
I have the boxster monobloc upgrade on the fronts and I am led to believe that an upgrade to a turbo 23mm master cyl is ideal with the 4-pot mod.
Can an enlightened member tell me in idiot proof style what is involved?

I wouldn't think it was necessary Mike. You can use the standard master cylinder with the turbo 4-pot brakes on all 4 corners, so it certainly has enough capacity to move the requisite fluid around. You have monoblocks just on the front. If you go to a 23mm you will have a shorter pedal stroke to move the same amount of fluid. I would therefore expect the pedal to be heavier and modulation more difficult.

What are the piston diameters on a monoblock caliper? Compared with a 930 caliper? That will give you the answer.

The actual swapping out process is fairly simple. The master cylinder is right in front of the brake pedal. My mechanic did mine and I recall being relatively painless on the wallet. You can use a 23mm Mercedes master cylinder at somewhat less cost than the Porsche 930 one. The new cylinder should be bench bled to get rid of air bubbles before installation.
