Off topic, but maybe interesting:

For those who can receive the German TV station Sport1 it will be fun: 16 h coverage, first reports starting on Thursday, 13th.

Schedule here:

They also provide an internet livestream - as they say, same link as above.

Good luck,

Hacki

Are you going Hartwig? I've always wanted to do the Ring 24 hours. I've heard the campsite culture is a little different to Le Mans. Mostly heavy rock music turned up to 11 combined with MASSIVE explosions!

No, I´m not going. My son Lucas is there, helping in a Youngtimer Trophy team. Campsite culture is special, yes. But Scorpions? No, no, that´s for girlies.[;)]

If you haven´t seen the race yet, try to make it! It´s unique. Make sure, you know the area and have a vehicle (4-wheeler, motorbike) ready to go to different spots.

P.S.: And don´t forget your Werther´s Originals!

Yes..... We were in a supermarket in Aachen on Saturday evening.
Rows and rows of Werthers originals on the shelves.

Hardly see them over here in the UK!

Nice to see you named your son after a classic British automotive electronics manufacturer. [;)]

Melv keeps talking about the dark side all the time..... and Lucas is the Prince of Darkness![:D]

Actually, the team owner tried to nickname him "Bosch", but it wasn´t accepted.[;)] He´s still Lucas, so the UK flag is still waving, also here.

Rgds,

Campsites at 'ring great fun and safe -was there for DTM last world cup and the Kraut rock band in the bier kellar (tent!) burst into the German football song every few numbers -great fun and there was dancing on the tables....but the Scorps??? Nah!!![:D]

Thanks !

I'll be watching the live stream then [8D]

Unfortunately it can't be viewed in the UK - seems they have an IP restriction which only lets it be viewed in certain countries - a bit like BBC iPlayer in this country.

Maybe this one ?

Good luck!

Was just going to post that one Hacki [:D]

Here are some more resources that might help:

http://adac.24h-rennen.de/
http://vln.wige-livetiming.de/index.php
http://tv.sport1.de/homepage/index.php - may need a german IP
http://www.sportauto-online.de/24h-rennen-nuerburgring-live-stream-1265111.html - apparently not geoblocked...

DSF are showing the support races, I'm getting alternate green "screen" and pictures at http://www.sportauto-online.de/24h-rennen-nuerburgring-live-stream-1265111.html at the moment, but not sure if they are really intending to be broadcasting yet...

If you fancy English commentary to go with the ADAC/SportAuto video, try this http://rlm.0157.org/nplayer.php our friend at Radio Le mans [:D]

I raced in one of the support races in 2005... 4 lap sprint in a Clio in torrential rain... crowd and circuit both totally surreal... come up to a corner to find it covered in fog, then u smell it and realise it's just some bloke burning his sausages...
Fabulous memories if a tad scary... no sitting back like a trad enduro when you've got 4 laps for hero or zero, trying to take the kink at the end of Dottinger-Hohe flat with zero visibility in a pack of 6 clios... madness.
