Got stuck on a busy M1 this week from Leeds to the midlands. Reaffic flowed but never got over 50mph. When I got home I had recorded a staggering 27.5 mpg! Didnt think it was possible.

Anyone ever beaten that in an 'S' over a reasonable distance?

wow thats amazing. what does the car usually average? thinking of getting the missus one but unsure about the running costs of 2 porsches!

Never seen that! The new S seems to be giving us over 19mpg as an average, only slightly better than our previous one, but hope to see over 20mpg as the engine loosens up.

huge variation depending on motorway versus town run. Can be down to 14 in town. Motorway depends on speed. 90-95 and it will be 17-18. 70-75 and I can get 23/24. Overall average is 21 or just below.

I have one on loan from an OPC next weekend as a prize. I used to have a Rangerover doing 18 to the gallon and it really pixxes you off when you are constantly in the garage. I used to spend ÂŁ120 to ÂŁ150 / week on fuel in the thing!
It would kill me to go back to that type of comsumption on a car I used for work!

That's staggering.

I had a 3.2 V6 Tip and generally achieved 12 mpg with my wife, the most careful of drviers generally no more than 16 - 21 mpg even on long journeys.

Nope.

I have a feather for a right foot and could only manage 23.5mpg over 500 miles in my loaner ( non 'S' ).

Well done Sir !

Blimey... you must have wrung it's neck all the time. I have averaged around 19.5 in my V6 Tip in 2.5 years and I don't hang around in it either.

In my turbo I have averaged over the last year 16.5 mpg acccording to the computer, best I have ever had was around 22 mpg which was on the motorway. But didn't buy the car to worry about fuel consumption[:D]

thinking of getting the wife a cayenne although unsure about running to porkas...servicing as expensive as my 997s will be?? is it every 2 years or 20k these days??

Yes, servicing at two years or 20k. Fixed price from OPC and a PCGB discount, hopefully.

I have a black disc about 1 cm in thickness, and 10 cms in diameter which revolves at 45 rpm. Is this a record?

So sorry, could not resist it ...[:D]

So far I'm dissapointed with the consumption on my 3.2... bought this instead of the V8 thought it would be more economical... wrong!! seems to be averaging 17mpg with mixed urban driving and some motorway. Was hoping for around 20 ish but looks like thats a dream []
