2nd gear

Hello all - first time post, so please bear with...

I have had my 1999 996 C2 cabriolet for a few months and, as a first Porsche experience, it has been rather wonderful. Only problem with the car so far is a difficulty in engaging 2nd gear on a downshift if the revs are above c. 2000, which they often will be, of course. Ive read of a possibly related problem with popping out of 2nd, but that is not an issue. Does anyone here have any experience of this and of fixes?

It sounds like the 2nd gear synchromesh might be worn. Does it feel a bit notchy when changing from 1st to 2nd?

Edit: Either way, I would suggest changing the transmission oil. Mobilube 1 SHC 75w-90 seems a popular choice for your circumstances. If that doesn't improve it, then I would get it looked at by an indy.
