Hi,

I am at the moment looking at buying a 997 2S or 4S. I would be interester to hear your opinion of which one I should go for. I really like the 2S, but 4S is also great to drive. I have about 55k£ to spend for this so have to go for a used one. There seems to be one artic one for sale at Reading for 49 900. It 2005/2006 model with 20k on the clock. Is this right price level at the moment?

A bit open ended questions but would highly appreciate comments from more experienced people.

Regards and thanks

you should be able to get one a yr old or just over for £55k the reading one is about £5k more than you need to give I think-if you like it why not try them at £45k??
the 4s looks good and is well planted but TBH the 2S can look after most of us even in the twisty bits and doesnt lose you too much luggage space in the front
try both as usual is the maxim-and for a decent run
good luck-nice position to be in at the moment!

C4S more planted C2S more involving, both great cars and you won't go wrong with either.

Thanks Dyllan,
I appreciate your help. If they don't come close to the 45 mark then I think I will go for a one which is a bit newer with less miles.

Thanks

I always felt that the 4s was a bit pointless on the 997 gen1. The 2s is more invoving and is a fun ride whilst at the same time very safe and stable. The 4s is and does feel more planted but a little more mundane - if you can describe any 997 as mundane.

There are no real cosmetic differences aside from a marginally wider backside (44mm).

Would you be interested in my well spec'd '07', 13k car? Still under original warranty until April 2009.

for £55k that would be very good value jamie,(especially given the way you have looked after it)

All depends on the useage of the car, for weekend fun only would definetely go for the C2S, for all year round would go for the C4S... Then you after a while you go for a Turbo as you want more power...

Thanks, not needing to sell right now so £55K would be the figure it would be worth selling at. Problem is, people at the moment seem to want the older, higher mileage cars with no spec for £40K-£45K.

There are however some exceptions and the car that the original poster has been offered looks like very good value!
