Hi everyone ,1st Thank you for a great week end in and around Malton .
We had a good run back as far as Patley Bridge then clouds of blue smoke .
traced it to the engine side of the gear box .
Just had box oil changed and put in the swepco oil.
Is there any info on the effect of this oil on the oil seals ?
as far a I can see there is only one place that close to the engine that it can come from
and that is the main input shaft but oill appears to be coming from above the bell housing and running down and dripping off
the clutch operating lever /spring .
Any info appreciated before dropping the whole lot out .

Hi. Is it gearbox oil yours will be blue. Sounds like the oil light switch on top of engine, remove air filter housing and take a look before removing the engine. Report back.
Charles.

hi Charles
Its def Gear box as it is a distinctive greeny /blue colour .
Will check it out it may give a better view of the engine /gear box from there anyway .
Will report back

we dont think so the breather is too far forward
will look again tomorrow and report back

Probably not this, but where's the clutch slave cylinder on these? Could poss be hydraulic fluid leak if from this... if above the bell housing?

hi everyone ,
the cause was quite simple NO OIL SEAL at all !!!
I'm lucky in that i travelled about 3000 miles with about 1/2 pint of oil and didn't wreck the box
so as usual with these things seal and O ring about £12 labour about 400 plus we may as well put in a new clutch £400
OH well it could have been worse .
Back in action for the weekend hopefully .
