3.2 carrera-niggles for new owner

I have bought my first Porsche at last-guards red 1984 Carrera with 90,000 miles and one family owner. Very little needs sorted but the door pulls on the inside are incredible hard to operate and the passenger one does not spring back when pulled, so unless I warn passengers they shut the door and the door release whacks the shut plate! Presumably this means removing the door trim to fix-how do I do that without breaking anything and so it all goes back together again?

The car came with a 4 spoke leather wheel and also a spare 3 spoke. Which one is the original?

Still getting used to the handling-it's what makes life interesting!

Photos when I get round to it.

If you have an E in the VIN then it probably should have 3 spoke as stock. If it's an F then it probably should have the later 4 spoke wheel. Hopefully someone that actually knows will comment.

The door panels are easy to remove. annoyingly you do have to prise a plastic cover off of the rotary locking knob to get to a screw. You will need some long allen keys for the allen bolts hidden behind the door opening handle. Pull the linkage out of the door handle so you can then swing open the handle to get access to the allen bolts.
I don't think my interior door handles spring back either when the door is popped open with them.

I suffered with a similar problem for a long time. It turned out to be a stud from some old trim that had worked it's way into the door mechanism. To get this out you will also need topop the window frame out too... That sounds worse than it is btw..

Greetings
Mine where not very good when I first got the car[] So one day I stripped out the offside door card to have a good butchers[:-] In my opinion the design is a little naff in so much as tha bowden cable between the door catch and the pull handle ISN'T in a straight line. Instead does a sort of double S shape. All very well when its nice and new but with age it starts too clog up and gets stiff round the bends.
I undid one end and allowed copious quantities of WD40 or similar to infiltrate the interior of the cable. This helped a lot but I seem to have to do this every 12-18 months. Or of course replace the mech complete, at £???.
So instead I continue with the ritual.
Well it keeps me out of mischief and away from any household duties that my dear wife might find for me.
Hope this helps
Good luck
Alex
