3.2 carrera project

Hi there I may be about to take on a new project and im here doing a little research

The car is a 1983 3.2 carrera cab in guards red. At the minute its stripped of most parts and the paintwork has been rubbed down in preparation for paint. The shell is mint as far as i can see and im told its rust free.

My job would be to get the engine fired up and running initially (Il come back to that in a sec)

Then strip the rest of the necessary parts off the car before sending it for a respray. Things like the roof and trims will have to come off. Most of the preparation including stripping and rebuilding parts will be done by me.

Then its just a case of building it back up. Im told that 99.5% of the parts are with it. As said though, somebody else has stripped it and all the bits are in boxes and labelled.

There is a brand new head lining, both the turbo and standard spoiler, turbo wheels, black leather interior in good condition

The engine is currently a 3.5 RUF Weber carb conversion. It all looks freshly rebuilt and painted and has all the documentation and receipts. Carbs themselves are in a box but the bottom end and heads are installed in the vehicle. I was thinking i could either sell that engine on in favour of a standard 3.2 engine or keep it and run that.

My main concern is that i find that there are a few elusive parts missing or broken that i will have to track down.

I should probably mention that im a technician at an OPC so i have all the necessary equipment and information to hand if i need it. The car has good service history and plenty of receipts and history with it to help a future sale when its complete.

Any advice would be greatly recieved

would it be worth finding a standard 3.2 lump complete and putting that straight in? Im guessing I would also need the DME too?

Thanks for the link I'l read it properly later. I'm hoping the engine will work ok as it is because iv not heard it running and they don't know when it last ran. I would like to keep the 3.5 but maybe a standard 3.2 would be better for resale value?

Won't more people be interested if it was original ? This is a project for making a profit at the end so I'm thinking along them lines.
