Well the time has come, with a heavy heart our car is now up for sale - its been a good friend and Im sure that who ever buys it will have as much if not more enjoyment from this classic car. My Wife decided that she wanted a porsche so in July 25 2005 when the advert appeared in the local evening paper it was love at first sight. The car has been enjoyed and we have taken it a few places, and now its up for sale.

The car is a 1983 Carerra with the part leather interior. Its got fuchs alloys electric windows sunroof and mirrors. Its slate blue in colour and the milage is a genuine 80k.

I know this may sound silly and all but bear with me ! pricing cars seems to be a bit of a black art and Im wondering if anyone reading this can let me know if this sounds like a fair price for the car or not. Also wanting to further update the situation. The car was put through an MOT this afternoon and it passed with one advisory, this for a blowing exhaust gasket. Chap at Motortune says its reasonably easy to fix so this will be done before the car is sold. But Id like to know what the general thoughts on the price is and if its a fair price for the car.
 
Very hard to tell. Easy soultion , dont sell - you will regret it (unless you have something tasty on the cards as a replacement) If it has NO rust, good paint and engine/box fine and leak(ish) free then its probably worth it. Its condition, not miles or age that sets the price.
 
The body is in excellent condition, and the sunroof doesnt leak, but then again its very rarely taken out in the rain. The car recieved a body refurbishment before we took ownership and have to say when she has been cleaned and waxed she looks great.

Price seems fine to me provided it has little rust if any it should fly. You probably want to word the ad better, give more detail on condition, what size Fuchs, any mods, service history, recent work, recent photos of all the usual rust places to prove the cars condition, condition of exhaust, does it shift well (usual 915 g'box questions). Steer away from the personal reasons behind the sale/purchase and just push the cars good points. Good photos will do alot of work for you, show the B posts, scuttle area, headlamp/wing rust areas, interior, engine, sills. Get it on Pistonheads, if it sells to a non-member who cares its SOLD!

Yeah another plus one for keeping it - they are getting much harder to find and if you do after the sale you will always compare the 'replacement' with the one that got away - if at all possible keep the car!!!!![;)][;)][;)][;)]
 
Well I sold mine in Nov last year, for 12k. it had done 140k miles, but was in very, good condition and very, very original. It did need some paint chips doing on front bumper, and had the slightest of bubbling around one of the indicators, apart from that was very clean, but useable. Took 2 weeks to sell. If you are prepared to haggle on the price, and considering the milage, you should be fine. I assume its a sport model? As for the advice on dont sell? Well depends what you replace it with, I bought a rarer more raw porsche - havent looked back!
 
Last month I sold my 85 in gurads red with FSH and 90k, good condtion, all bills receipts, 5 oweners, etc for 11k, had it advertised for 12.5k for 4 months, no takers, dropped to 11.5k, sold within 2 weeks, first to view bought. IMHO all prices have dropped by 10-20% over the last 12 months, there are plenty of ars for sale and its really a buyers market. Good luck with the sale, if its as you say you should not have any problem selling it
 
Help! I have a 87 targa that I have dusted off and have started driving after a long winter wait. Went to go for a run and I am unable to unlock the steering lock - so the car is stuck with the wheels turned to full lock and will not disengage. Car starts Ok but steering lock is stuck/jammed on. Sounds like the ignition switch may be faulty - is there a quick way to disengae the lock manualy???? Very frustrating as the car is stuck in the drive! Any advise? Thanks, Steve
