The fuel tank has started to leak on my 87 3.2 targa.Does anyone know where i can get a replacement tank?
Andrew.

I guess the best place to look would be in one of the Porsche mags,i have found Porsch-apart to be very helpful.01706 824053.

Hi Andrerw, have you tried all the usual suspects - Porscheshop, Design911, Type911, Euro-Porscha, etc, also check out the classified in the bak of PP, might be some leads there

PS Pelican is also a good source if time isn't an issue
PPS If you're going to fit it yourself ask your local Indi where he would get it from as he could get trade discount for you

Genuine petrol tanks are very expensive. I was quoted over £700 when I was looking. The tanks listed on ebay are most likely to be a reproduction part, but it worth ringing up and checking. Note, that neither are supplied with the protective stonechip finish.

Another option is to use a tank Re-Nu agent...check out

Not sure how much they charge but the end results look impressive and includes a lifetime warranty .

Greetings
Just replaced my tank in July. Got it from JZ Machtech in Kings Langley. Around £400 for an exchange/refurbished unit. Looked fine and a piece of cake to fit[:D] If you have any questions on the installation please don't hesitate to e-mail me.
Good luck
Alex

Thanks for the replys.I am going to take the car off the road for the winter, and sort it out in the spring.
Andrew.

Hi Andrew,
if you are going to store it for the winter, surely this would be an ideal time to whip the tank out and send it off to the outfit that Anil suggested - I don't believe it takes that long to get it out and at least you won't loose the use of the Porka as it's in hibination anyway

I am going to see if i can get the fuel tank out.Any ideas on how i can get the 10 gallons of fuel out of the tank? How easy is it to remove the tank?(the last one i removed was on a vw beetle, and that was very easy!)
Andrew.

Greetings
10 gallons of fuel to get rid of ? sounds like a trip somewhere to me. Assuming 22 mpg or thereabouts, Bristol! Its only 115 miles from west London, and cracking good pubs[:)]. Thats of course if your starting from my house? Otherwise consult the Good Beer Guide for other options and of course take a co-driver[;)]
The removal is a piece of cake, take the battery out and you'll find three allen headed bolts around the edge , holding the tank in. Positioned at 3o'c, 6o'c, and 9 o'c. ( or was it quarter to nine)? [:D]
Then there's four pipes to undo and the sensor unit to extract. Doodle.
Good luck
Alex

When removing the tank,do i have to get underneath to disconect the fuel pipes,or can i get to them when the tank is lifted up?
Thanks,
Andrew.

Andy
You will have to get under the car to take the fuel lines off thay are the other side of the under tray with the fuel pump that thay connect to
