looking at a 3.4 boxster on sunday, i have heard the gearbox
had problems is this true.and were there any other issues
on the 3.4 that are obvious.

I have had a 3.2 "S" since 2001 until I collected 981 yesterday. No issues whatsover in all that time. Indeed, the only expenses incurred were tax/insurance/petrol and 1 set of tyres and annual service. Still on original battery and pads. A quite brilliant experience and for what it's worth depreciation of £2900 per annum. Could not have had more fun if the money had been spent on wine women and song. You will I am sure hear horror stories from others, but this is my experience, a simply brilliant car!
Off to PEC Silverstone tomorrow with my son in the new one and trust I'll get another nearly 12 years of driving enjoyment, as the first 70 miles from the OPC to home was awesome!!

Just coming up to 36000 with visits to Castle Combe and Nurburgring. I know there is a body of opinion that believes that if these cars are not used regularly then all sorts of problems occur, but as far as my use is concerned as a second car, there is for example no point in taking it out in the winter on salted roads and as the purpose in buying it originally was to drive with the roof off whenever possible, its use was chiefly throughout the summer which suited me fine.
What a brilliant day my son and I had at PEC Silverstone. I have to say that the capabilities of the car far exceeded my wildest expectations when tutored by an excellent instructor! When driving on the public highway there should not hopefully be many occasions when all the Porsche wizardry needs to come into play, but it is certainly reasuring to know that a very high level of stability and braking etc is available if called upon.
