Has anyone done this and:

1. Throttle Body Conversion ECU Remap.
2. Kit is a RUF/FREISSENGER etc.
3. BHP and Performance.
4. Cost.

and

Anyone done the M A Shaw flat bumper conversion?

Thanx[:)]

A chap on Rennlist offered to make me an ecu that will directly swap, with the addition of a throttle position sensor. The AFM can then be removed. About 1000 Euros. It can then be tweaked with a laptop.

Des,
If you're serious about modding a 3.2 the best person to bounce ideas off is Richard Bernau - do you know him ? He used to post on here a lot, but now mostly on Impact Bumpers forum.
He really has explored every avenue for lightening / increasing power / improving brakes and assessed the cost / bang for buck. His car is a really good example of what can be achieved without spending really stupid money. I'm sure he'd be happy to help or advise. I can put you in touch if you can't track him down ..........

Good luck, the 3.2 is a great car, I really enjoyed mine.

Thanks Jamie and everyone ... I have found a car, should have it in about 10 Days .. deal is done all round. 84 3.2 LHD GP White non-sunroof .... little bit non-standard[&o]

Sounds intriguing Des got any pics you can share with the class ? As you know LHD is best, just hope the 915 box is a good one. Not that the '64 RS is the greatest gearshift in the world, but the older boxes can be tricky. I don't doubt you've done your homework, so I'll be interested to see the new beast .............

Des,
Just been reading the thread documenting the build of your new car - that looks absolutely fantastic. With the right set up etc I expect that thing will be every bit as quick as the Mintwagen on track (and a bit more comfortable for daily use). I look forward to seeing it .........

The Minty is the Track Car without doubt with only 260 break and Dunlop SSS it would keep it with anything in the right hands and I found a really planted RS unlike the RS Lightweights which this is more akind ... the N-GT power is in the chassis!

Agreed your new one is rather less of a focussed track weapon, but regardless, with 60bhp more and a bit less weight it should be pretty darned rapid. I suspect the weakness may be in the limitations of the torsion bar suspension and the greater flex in the older chassis - otherwise it's all 993 running gear ..........
Either way it will be a lot of fun, and more useable.

Very nice Des. I like the weight!

As for torsion bar suspension, Paul Frere didn't think the 964 was a vast improvement in handling. F1 cars use torsion bars...

Just be a bit gentle in 1st gear and the tranny will probably be OK. Remember the faster the tranny spins the better. Low RPM and lots of tq is what kills them. I've heard tales of turbo'd 915's breaking 3rd gears due to the massive tq at low RPM, say 300lbs at 3000RPM.
