3.4 to 3.6 conversion

Ok trying really hard to find some positives in todays disaster (see my other post).

If it comes to an engine replacement, has anyone heard of anyone changing a 3.4 for a 3.6?

I'm assuming you would be talking about £10K for a new engine (or maybe a reconditioned one cheaper?), plus new ECU. Would you need any other upgrades?

I know for the 997 they've upgraded the gearbox as it supposedly wouldn't cope with the extra power of the 3.8, but would there be any problems with the 3.6?

Alternatively, I've always fancied the supercharger job that was in 991 & Porsche World a while back for about £4K, but to fit that I guess you'd want to be sure that everything was in tip top shape, and I haven't got that confidence in mine at present.

Doesn't the 3.6 need the optical wiring (MOST)?
Sorry if so. I would think it makes it almost impossible...[&o]

Mike,

I know the issues with putting one in a Boxster - the DME on the 3.4 isnt set up for Variocam, but by now should be straight forward enough for Rook, or similar.
