3.8 RSR Rims

Delivery of my the new beast is being delayed by part delivery from Porsche Motorsport, the car runs on the split rim Speedlines of the 3.8 RSR (?? I'm told) and one of the rims has a dent from being kerbed so is being replaced before delivery... (just the rim, not the whole wheel)
Does anyone have experience of Porsche Motorsport on delivery of older parts particularly this sort of wheel? I'm keen to get my hands on the car and there seems to be no clue as to when this part might appear...
Similarly I assume replacing a rim on a Speedline is a pretty specialised task... not worth collecting the car now and hoping to find someone to do the work when the part appears?
Cheers
Rick

My mechanic has just completely rebuilt my 18" RS speedlines.

Motorsport can supply parts off the shelf in hours not days.

H&S has a set of genuine SR Speedlines for 5000 Euro last time I looked.

Thanks for that Charles, I know when I've needed race parts they are with you same day sometimes, but I'm told that there is often an issue with these old wheels...
Speedservice look like they know what they are doing... nice website.
Cheers

Olav regularly works on RSRs. He was race mechanic in the Porsche Racing series and knows them inside out. Rumour has it he is doing a ground up restoration of one this winter.

What size are the speedlines?

Be interested to hear how you get on. I enquired about new rims and they were available through Porsche for th front but no rears.

Cheers

By rims I mean the whole thing...sorry.

Although I did hear that a company in Germany could supply/manufacture stainless rims

will keep u posted... told it's just the outer piece for the front wheel... to be fair, if they are this tough to source I may be putting them away in the garage a bit quickly... ;-)

Hmmm... getting on for a month since I opened this topic and still no sign of the outer rim for my front speedline.... hence still dont have my RS....given I´ve never seen it, beginning to wonder if its a myth (like the RHD RSR? ;-) )

Getting a tad impatient.....

I have photos of the rhd rsr.
Can you not get a bbs for now,or some one to lend you some wheels. If you get stuck i know a man that may lend you a pair .

Literally days from weissach/stuttgart for any parts....think you are having your Todger pulled mate......maybe someone wants you to back out?[:'(]

If motorsport have them instock,it can be next day delivery if you want.
I tried to order some engine bits for a rsr engine the other day, informed non in stock and dont when we will!
So there may be a genuine delay.

There would appear to have been a degree of tugging going on in the hope I change my mind since as a couple of you are aware the car I own doesn´t appear to be what the dealer and I thought it was when the money changed hands... but I do actually believe the delay on the wheel to be genuine... have asked sneaky questions elsewhere and these RSR speedlines do seem to be like rocking horse p*o at the moment...
You can all imagine my frustration.... very keen to get my paws on the new toy... think I will try and source a set of something different for the car very quickly after delivery if this is the supply situation on the Speedlines... problem is, BBS just went bankrupt and I'm not sure what else would look good on a widebody?

Hang on in there DCSBoy.....a set of BBS Wheels should be easy to source, even a second hand refurbished set just to get you on the road look forward to seeing this special car on track or show asap......[:)]

dealer has secured a second hand rim, seems the Speedlines are just not available...
Car has been road tested and "is actually really scarily quick" according to dealer... being sent to a race team to have the suspension set up so it doesn't kill me the first time I get in it and I SHOULD be able to finally get my hands on it in the coming week or so...
Then full story and pics on here as promised....
Cheers
