3 Questions to ask about i car i have seen for sale.

Hi,
Sorry this is hard to explain slightly.

1. When you press the break pedal the card does slow down but it feels heavy to press and almost as though you really need to stamp on it to slow down which doesn't inspire confidence to stop.

I am comparing it to a new BMW i have totally different cars so just want to see what others feel.

2. The clutch was also heavier and felt as though it was on or off so was not that easy to pull off the clutch was changed 1k miles previous so would this to be expected with a new clutch ?

3. The rear spoiler when activated either at high speed or by the button would give an error on the dash saying it had failed even though it looked to work any advise ?

Regards
Gareth

What model are you looking at?

I assume a 996 turbo?

You finish by asking "any advice?"

My response is don't buy this one. There's loads on the market and find one in better shape. The clutch is not that heavy (you describe one that sounds like it needs a new clutch), the brakes ned either new pads or discs or both. Not cheap. There's an electrical fault with the spoiler activation.

Hi,

Yes sorry its a 996 Turbo sorry

What you have said is what I thought aswell I wasn't 100% sure myself with the seller saying it had not long had a clutch I thought it was odd as it should feel like any other car i presume and should be lightish like any other car and easily controllable.

Gareth

You need to compare eggs with eggs - ie if you are looking at 996T then look at several or better still take someone who
owns one or at least has a knowledge of them - get a yard stick for what your buying then theres a good chance you will buy one with the 'lion' mark and not a 'cuckoo'[:D]

1. Coming from a BMW you'll feel you are having to give the brake pedal a firmed press. So this seems normal.

2. Again against a BMW the clutch will also feel heavier and does have a certain amount of on/off which you will get used to.

3. I'd get this into somewhere that can check it, probably be able to plug it in to a computer to check.

I'd suggest you get any potential purchase checked by a Turbo specialist e.g. Fernsport etc

Remember to get the usual suspects checked - rads, brakes, tyres etc
