Hi Marc, I thought the anniversary was NEXT year (i.e. November 2005). Anyway, we ought to come up with something.

There was talk of visiting the original site of the launch (S of France?), or maybe a factory visit.
Was there a significant launch event in the UK we could 're-create', or maybe we could get one model for every year assembled at HQ (probably impossible, but you never know - if we put the call out to a wide enough audience in plenty of time....).
Perhaps it's just an excuse for a large convoy to wherever (how about Cornbury to Beaulieu? or Porsche Reading? with a celebratory meal in the evening?)

The motoring press ought to be alerted so they can plan features.

I'm sure other ideas will come to mind, keep looking...... Phil

thanks Phil

Yes im sure its next year as well but next year will so be upon us. Thanks for starting the ball rolling anyone else ??????[8|]

The anniversary is next November, and our register secretary has already asked for ideas about how we could commerorate 30 years of the 924 via this forum. I think we would be better off if we left it to one individual to co-ordinate. Paul would love to here from anyone with suggestions.

On behalf of Paul, I have tried to get the BBC interested, nothing has come of that yet, so keep the good ideas coming.

Hi 924nutter

not to sound like a git, im the assistant secretary, and just to help Paul i thought i would get some basic ideas and then discuss with Paul what would be the most attractive for the model and register

You don't sound like a git. I didn't realise you were the assisant reg sec. My apologies.

Did you read my 924 turbo article in the post?

I imagine the club and the Register will be organising a huge display to commemorate the 30th anniversary at next years National event. A line up of every model and variant throughout the years, taking pride of place, all polished up to the nines [:D]

I'm looking forward to it

Hmm

One would really like to hope so, but in they unlikely event that it doesnt !! or it may be that people have different ideas and set up little extra events to commemerate 30 years, and at the mo im open ears ! that will teach me for sticking my head out the window at 60 [&:]

I apprieciate all the replies to this subject

It's looking more likely that this event will take place in the UK as driving down to the original launch site in the South Of France, Neckarsulm where the cars were built, or even a factory visit would, in my opinion exclude many owners from taking part - I'm not ruling it out completely yet though [;)]

I am getting more involved with possible plans now Brands Hatch is done and dusted - this includes talking with Porsche Club AND Porsche Cars Great Britain and of course you, the members [:)]

One year to go!
