from above autocar article.

"This means that, once again, we have a 911 RS model powered by a 3.8-litre engine, a combination that in the past has delivered great things "" such as the 993 RS of 1995, arguably the greatest combination of road and track performance found in a 911 shell."

5 * awarded, an Impressive car,yet I can't quite understand why it leaves me a little cold and indifferent....that shouldn't be the case with a real RS Porsche?

PaulH, when is yours due,,,can't be long now?

essential is spot on
Its quick, noisy and responsive, but time will tell.
The GT3 is good but to tall geared for real revy fun,but a excellent gt car,it actually felt a little flat around silverstone in places.
I think the speed comes a little to easy, but good lap times may be harder.
Mine is not ready until late June, just have to make do with the porsche demo at silverstone for now.
Paul i think you will only be impressed by it,its a 993 on steroids!!!

Paul, lets hope June flys by for you........which colour did you go for in the end?.....White/gold??

I have no doubt the car is incredible to drive.

Not that it matters, but the problem is more likely with me as I am clearly against consensus here.

Maybe it is too good, certainly for road use in the south east and is an evolution of the previous 997 RS version, in itself a different version of the GT3.

Perhaps, because there are so many GT3/RS variants to consider, it loses a little bit of the specialness of the older RS cars to me.

I have been impressed with the engines in 996/97 Gt3 & RS, but not actually enough in the whole package to tell myself, I must buy one.

Obviously, I would be happy to currently buy one of these at list..................just so I could flip it![:D]

Paul, look forward to hearing your reports, as an owner who will no doubt use it as intended, for a road trip to Spa and back it is probably the best modern car available.

Hi Paul
I cant wait, white with gold, not quite so in your face,if you know what i mean.
I agree on the so many variants now,but this is the only one that's got me excited enough to be interested in something new again.
Also looking forward to the factory delivery/pick up and a few autobahns, the ring and then in to Switzerland for a few high passes etcIt should be nicely run in by then!

Excellent choice, the white gold to me is reminiscent of the old 3.0RS, it sort of makes sense as well chronologically after the 2.7RS colour schemes used on the 996 versions.

I am sure it will be epic!

Don't get me wrong I am not questioning the credentials of the car, I am slightly amazed that I am not in awe of the beast and selling my soul to get one, for some reason...

You never know, I may end up doing a Des and owning one at some point, where this thread will no doubt come back to haunt me.[:D]

Looks like it will be a good car. Porsche haven't made a bad RS even the 997 MK1 is excellent once you throw away the active

Steve, have you had the chance to drive your 993 yet???...I recall you mentioned taking it to Snetterton.

<sorry to those that get upset, that this may be slightly off topic, but at least it's 993 related and I know the thread starter does not mind>
