4 adults in a 996

Just to confirm, for those in any doubt, that the 996 is a marvellously practical vehicle.[;)]

I have now, on 3 separate occaisions, managed to fit 4 fully grown adults in my 996. The journeys were not far, obviously, but 15-20 mins is possible.
Both rear occupants have to have their legs splayed around the front seats, and it helps that as the driver, I am moderately proportioned (in the height department!). However, it proves that it can be done, although you need to be friendly.
Getting briefcases and coats in, was a little more tricky, especially since there isn't that much space with the 4-wheel drive, but the space behind the seats and the luggage compartment managed.
The car felt very stable, despite its 300Kg of occupants.

However, on one occaision the weather was cold, foggy and below 3 degrees and the car misted up. The air-con/climate control could not cope. (In the manual it says the compressor is switched out at 3 degrees, so there is no way to lower the humidity, only heating the air is possible).

A word of warning though. Whilst I agree it is certainly possible to have four people in the car I indeed did used go out with my 15 year old son in the rear but last saturday we had a car hit us inthe back whilst we were stationary at traffic lights. The damage sustained was moderate considering the impact at approx 30 mph and whilst the car is perfectly drivable my son was inflicted with severe brusing to his head from the rear of the car. So be warned - the protection to rear passengers is limited - at least for their heads and necks.

at least for their heads and necks

I have no problem. When I take my friends for a ride I put the heads in the luggage compartment. As long as the journey is not too long they don't even start to thaw out before I have to pop them back in the freezer.

I have had four live ones in the car on a number of occasions but never for more than 15 miles max, but had to let them out as I couldn't stand the screams any longer...

My daughter has been a rear seat passenger a number of times and at only 5'8" she can cram in.... any slight bump in the road though and head bangs on the rear screen. Not exactly real safe......
