4 Wheel alignment after wheel change.

Sorry to drag up an old favorite.
I've upgraded to 17" ET55 wheels from 15" ET52.3 Teledials recently, they look great but 'feel' lousy.
There is a lot of tramlining. I also changed the castor mounts for 968 one's . I managed to change the castor mounts without moving the adjusters. This has improved things slightly, But it still seems to wander around.
Tyres are Michelin 205/50/17 30PSI front & Falken 255/40/17 35PSI rear.
Tried several pressures, but these seem the best.
Would the slight difference in offset mess the geometry up?
Should the alignment need checking if the car is ok with 15" wheels but not with the 17's?

How much does it cost to have done, and can anyone recommend anywhere near Leeds?

Thanks
Darren.

The two inch decrease in tyre wall will tend to increase the tramline effect but I really would recommend an alignment. The newer caster bushes are slightly offset to the original so even though you did not loosen the adjuster it 'could' be having an effect. An alignment check will show this and if it is spot on then you won't need to pay for adjustment.

Round my way I pay £75 for a check then its £40 an hour to adjust anything that is out. If they have not been aligned for a while then some of the adjusters could be seized and will take ages to free up so its worth soaking everything in WD40 or PLus Gas for a few days beforehand.

ps you've reminded me my S2 is due for a check [:)]

might be worth having a word with Strasse in Leeds - they would know where you could get it checked, if they couldnt do it

ps. was it your car that was in the concourse competition at the annual club rally at Harewood last month ?

No, I didn't enter. it was parked just outside the arena. Where you there?

I've called Strasse and they want nearly £150 for alignment chack and adjust.

i was there, at the end of a row. There was a red 944 just like yours in the concourse event - looked really nice.

£150 sounds expensive

i recall that there is a Turbo Centre somewhere near Horsforth and i think they do allignment checks, but I can't be sure of their details. They might be cheaper.
