4 wheel alignment at elite tyres in rainham, essex

Hi jason I was quoted a fixed price of £80 to do a four wheel set up but as I said in an earlier post it was put on the ramp and then I found out that the job was being done by pinky and perky who did not know what they were doing and when I explained how to adjust the rear toe in it turned out they did not have the £15 tool required and their boss said the job could only be done by porsche, what rubbish. If I had not been there they would probably have said the suspension had all been checked and was all OK and charged me £80. be warned, make sure the people you are dealing with know what they are doing and ask how many porsches and other fully adjustable set ups they are familiar with, dont get me wrong there are a lot of good types out there but there are olso a lot that can talk the talk, all the best John
Jason,
When I was looking at getting an alignment done on my S2 I called a number of places around London and the SE.
Put it this way. Having spoken to Elite on the 'phone I chose to travel significantly further to go to Wheels in Motion. And that's before you look at the recommendations ...
Oli.

I find it a bit out of order that they charge you £18 for a "test" on top of any adjustments. I would suggest that there are plenty of better places to go for that service.
Locally you also have AMD at West Thurrock, they operate four wheel alignment and also lots of other things for porsche and VW and re a well known company who started life in Oxon, can't say if they have any Pinky or Perky's ?
But I am thinking about contacting them around the end of may, anyone in the club who have any ideas on them or have used them? perhaps we could ask for a discount if ok?
For info: For Tyres always try Jet Tyres at Canvey Island or Paycocke Road,Basildon, (only these 2 depots) no other jet tyres are owned by them, they offer the best prices by far in the area that I have had on Porsche tyres for past 20 years.
hope this helps.

I thought that was normal TBH. I know ProMax charge £56 for checking all of the variables on the 944's suspension before going for adjustments.
Hmmm. Here's an idea. We have rolling road days, where lots of 944 owners get together and pay a slightly reduced rate to put their car on the rollers.
Could something similar be done for alignment? Could you have an 'Alignment Day', which works in the same way? I am thinking I may need an alignment done on my S2, we have Jason wanting the same, and various other people on here have asked the same thing.
Worth a thought? Someone would need to organise it.

I fully expect to pay at least an hours labour just to get the alignment checked and then a similar amount if it actually needs adjustment. It does take time to get the car onto the equipment and measured and very few places actually have true 4 - wheel alignment gear so it's not cheap for them to buy.

Hmm didn't think I had an additional charge for checking when I had mine done, will have to dig out the old invoice and I will have to prepare to stand to be corrected !

They will. It takes time to set the car and the machine up. You have to set it up to check its current status. Once set up the adjustments arent complicated or overly time consuming.
If this was free they would be doing it all day for no money and providing free reports and read outs from £15k`s worth of kit to people "who just wanted to know"
