4 wheel alignment in east mids

New member
Hi all, fairly new member, posted a few times in main Boxster section. I have a 987s. Ive posted this in the main forum but only got one reply so I thought Id try this area. Im looking for a really good 4 wheel alignment specialist, my car has pasm so I dont really know if it makes a difference come alignment time. Ive had some bad experiences with alignment on other cars so I really need a good recomendation. Thanks in advance

well as its a brand new(ish) car i would recommend using the OPC.

if you don't want to do that then give mike at Zentrum(Notts) a ring and ask him who he'd recommend 01159 613911.
there is also a wheel specialist in Ibstock who im told is very good, one of the few around here that have the right equipment and know how to use it but, i don't seem to have contact details for them......not very helpful [:-].

Thanks for your reply Helen. Notts opc out source their alignment as do alot of dealers nowadays. OPC will probably charge 100-120 which is fine but I am not keen about introducing a third party. I have had bad alignments done in the past and an alloy damaged.

Hi Bax

If you fancy a little drive you should go and see Allan at Weltmeister at Silverstone. They have a full laser alignment system and have set up quite a few Porsche's. Other option would be to visit Autofarm who are on the outskirts of Oxford (1hr 20mins from Leicester), my 964RS is in with them at the moment having a cage fitted and their set up is excellent.

Sorry I don't know anyone closer.

Regards

Ollie

PCT in Coventry do all their own alignments and are a respected independent.
are you sure ? i took my Boxster down to autobahn about a year ago to get the tracking looked at as i wasn't happy with it and they said they couldn't help me..in the end got it done via OPC Sutton Coldfield

PCT used to outsource the alignment to the local OPC but last ime I enquired (about October last year - spoke to Simon) they told me they had now got all the latest equipment in-house. Perhaps Boxsters need something different - it would be worth a call to them.

Ian.

Thanks for your replies. that gives me something to go at. Im pretty sure mines not been set up correctly from the factory but I cannot do anything about that now. I had a similar spec car on my test drive plus (19s & pasm) and it felt so much more planted than mine with pasm off. Its booked in or a few days at the end of the week for a few rattles and I have mentioned the handling so I will see what its like after that. Thanks.

GCR set mine up perfectly, based in the centre of Leicester.

btw - The bloke in Ibstock, if this is Jeff fowkes, I would avaoid like the plague. I asked him to fit some tyres on my car (that I had bought from somewhere else), the man is the rudest, most arrogant person I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. And they couldn't even pump up to the pressure I had stated, fit the wheels correctly (ie the locking nut position).

i enquired about feb last year so it would have been before they got the equipment

Re Jeff Fowkes, I have dealt with jeff for 20 years, he is brill, polite and always keen to help. I have no problems with him at all. I alway purchase my tyres from him such as p zero`s and he always does a good price.
I am a member of R8 how do i show this ?

see thread pinned to the top of the "general" section of the forum, regarding why your being shown as a none member.

whats the address for the place in Ibstoke its just down the road from me so i must go and check it out...wonder if he'll do us a club discount deal [:-]

been to Jeff Fawkes at Station Road Ibstock and he is happy to give discount to PCGB members provided you show you club card. (mention my name)
discount varies depending on what service you use or item you purchase.
(if you don't ask you won't get) seem a nice team of men.

You could always try Graham Goode's in Leicester... £75+vat for a 4 wheel laserline, full adjustment to you specs including camber, caster etc... However be warned even though they are good, the price is not exactly fixed, unless you get in it writing... friend just had his highly modified MR2 Turbo done and they charged him an extra hours labour because they spent ages getting the rear setup, as it was all seized... end up paying £150 inc Vat. But they did it all perfect and he's very happy with the result... Unlike Jeff in Ibstock who he used to use... Jeff always left the rear slightly out as he could be bothered to unseize everything...?

Still you get what you pay for....[8|]
