4 wheel alignment in NW?

Rickster

New member
After an excellent article in Porsche Post i will get my alignment checked very soon as the car is due a wheel bearing and 2 new tyres in the next week or so.

Where should i take it (near Preston) and how much can i expect to pay?

Will the local Kwik Fit or the like have a good enough service or should i be looking elsewhere.....? (i suspect so!)

Thanks in advance

Rick

I wouldn't use Kwik-Fit. No I don't think they have the equipment needed either!

You could try Hartech in Bolton (it's not that far away! [:D]) , and if they haven't got the equipment themselves I'm sure they would point you to whoever does it for them.

Thanks Mark i will.

The car has had no 'incidents' in recent history but is 4 years old - is it common for cars to need geometry adjustment over time or simply a 4 wheel alignment should be enough for a simple guide / check?

They should have a check fairly regularly. Those with M030 sport suspension should have it done even more often.

I was in Germany a couple of years back and found there was a bit of vibration at 120MPH and above. Happened to be going to Ruf at the time and mentioned it to them. They checked it out and the suspension was slightly out, causing one tyre to go out of balance. The thing is I would never have know if I hadn't been going so fast! In normal driving conditions in England it would not have manifested itself.
My car had not had any "incidents" either. They said that the cars definitely do need to be checked now and again as they do drift out of alignment.

In the past I've used HP panelcraft in Preston for my 4 wheel alignment and paid around £160.
This time I've just had the M030 suspension fitted by the Porsche specialist Loe Bank Motors in Ramsbottom and they also do wheel alignment for around £120. Prices will vary depending on things like seized adjusters, one of my drop links on the anti-roll bars sheared off[]

If you need tyres as well can I recommend PWS wheels south shore Blackpool. I've just had 2 front Michelin pilot sport N1's fitted and the owner (Peter) is super careful with your wheels.
