4-Wheel alignment in south Wales area.

Could anyone please make any suggestions on where I might be able to get a decent 4-wheel alignment done on my 996.2 around the south Wales area? (apart from OPC Cardiff). Have previously tried Windway Tyres in Cardiff who were fine but wondered if there might be anywhere else that I'm not aware of.

Thanks in advance.

Adrian.

Celtic Tyres in bridgend does this ,have not used them for the porsche,i have used them for the focus

Adrian,

Bit of a trek for you I know, but I use Center (sic) of Gravity in Atherstone, Warwickshire and I would be a similar distant away from them since I'm in North Devon.

Many other members travel even further and consider it well worthwhile as the boss, Chris Franklyn, optimises the chassis alignment to suit your driving style and your own individual requirements. Most come away pretty well amazed at how much better their cars feel.

Worth a day off to give it a try I would say, but he's a busy chap and may not be able to take you for several weeks.

Regards,

Clive.

Thanks Clive. Yes I've contemplated the trek to Chris's for some time now and I know that it would be very worth while. The market for a similar set up in Bristol, etc would be significant, I'm sure. Wish I had the time and knowledge to do it myself but my current business seems to keep me away from civilisation most of the time! My third working weekend in a row! You've got to laugh!!!!

Thanks. Keeping all options open for now. It's not urgent so though I'd put the feelers out now.

There are 2 firms in Cardiff using Hunter alignment equipment. This is generally regarded as being top-of-the -range kit and expensive! I would guess anyone investing in this gear would tend to know what they're doing:-

Austin Tyre Services Ltd - aatyres.co.uk

Exhaust Tyres and Batteries, Penarth Road, Cardiff. 02920 382644.

Neither have very inspiring sounding names, I grant you but could be worth a call.

Also consider fcmmotorsport.co.uk in Bristol. These seem to come well recommended by many (although not specifically Porsche owners).

I have no personal experience wirth any of these, but offer them as suggestions.

Regards,

Clive.

Thanks Dave. Will certainly give them a call. They seem pretty specialist - do you know if they use Hunter gear? Can't believe that I haven't heard of them before ....!

Hi Adrian, i'm not sure to be honest but i run a small independant car biz and we use them on a regular basis especially for 4wd GTR's etc and they always do a great job and they are very reasonable. The owners name is Mike, he's always there to help & advise and i've always found him to give a good personal service and that means a lot these days!
Dave.

Thanks Dave. I've emailed Mike but will give him a call also after the Bank Holiday weekend.

Cheers again!

Thanks again to all for your help and input on this.

I went to Mototec www.mototec.co.uk near Blackwood today to get the four wheel alignment sorted.
What a great service. They've got the latest Hunter (Hawkeye) gear and more to the point are extremely helpful and informative. My alignment wasn't that far out as it goes but I'd like to give a special mention to Chris who carried out the work and all of the staff at Mototec who were all very friendly and helpful.

I took the long way home via Brecon and the car is handling superbly! [;)]

A great experience at a reasonable price and - thankfully - no other 'issues' detected! [:)]

Thanks again.

Adrian.

Hi Adrian,
I've only just noticed your reply, i'm glad you were happy with them. The service is very good and so is the price, i'm there again this week with a 350z and hopefully my 997 Carrera S if it's back from the service in time [:D]
Dave.
