4 wheel alignment

Can anybody tell me about this please.

It looks like I have part scrubbed one rear Pzero (sniff). Its about 1/4 worn on the outer so something is a foot.

Do I need a specialist to do this, I think I have read it can cost around £400 for 4 wheels (plus two new rear tyres and fronts not far behind) Or can I get this done anywhere?

I posted this in general too but thought I might get a good response here. Sorry if you read it twice!

John,

As I'm sure you realise, wheel alignment is pretty critical on any car but the 964 has 3 dimensional adjustments on each wheel and the regular "tyre shop" front wheel/tracking alignment doesn't even come close. Most tyre shops will refuse to touch the Porsche alignment if they know their stuff.

Some of the Porsche specialists have the right equipment and knowledge to do a good job - but it's not cheap. I don't know where you are geographically so my suggesyions may be way off, but I go to JZ Machtech in Kings Langley (just off J20 of the M25. Last time I had mine done (October) it was £220 + VAT for the alignment. Highly recommended - it makes a huge difference to the car to get it right.

Thanks Dave, just what i needed. I'm up in Peterborough but will trya nd get in and make the trip.

I've been a bit unhappy with the cars handling since a had the rear tyres changed, as one is scrubbed it makes me wonder if it was knocked out when it was done.

Err Bob, thanks for that info, I think.

John, glad to be of service. [:)][:)]

May be up to P'boro over the holiday period to see my parents. According to Metcheck, Cambridgeshire has a 50% chance of snow over Xmas but down in Bucks it's currently 40%.

Regards

Bob
