40th Anniversary Model Record

Hi folks

I have been corresponding via e-mail with a fellow 40th Anniversary model owner in the USA Ted Zimmermann - he has a huge collection of information , launch videos, memorabilia etc of this model and is obviously a real fan. His latest project is to try and record the whereabouts of every one of the 1963 cars produced with as much of their ownership history as people are prepared to share. I thought I would try to help him along by posting on the club forum. Ideally I think he wants the individual car number (xxx of 1963 produced) along with the owners name and just a broad location. Obviously some folk might not want to share too much detail, but even if you can give the car number and a rough location (even if just UK) then that would be a help. if you are an owner or former owner of one of these, I will be happy to collate the information and send it on through to him so you can just send me a note via the contact e-mail.
I think I have a link somewhere which shows the stuff he has managed to collect so far and will post this asap.

Thanks.Ian - 40th Anniversary Model No 698

Having just posted the above had blinding flash of inspiration and remembered where I had "safely stored" the shortcut to Ted Zimmermanns information - he has posted it in the following thread on the 911UK forum - his is one of the later posts where he explains a bit about what he's trying to do.

Greetings, Ian and the rest of the 40th anniversary community - Ted Zimmermann here (finally). In my signature below you will find the link to the registry itself. As Ian said, I have a great deal of other 40AE information if it would help anyone. Ian and other 40AE owners both in the UK and elsewhere have been diligently helping me identify cars to include in the registry. Thus far we have just under 500 listed with know numbers of the 1963 Porsche said they made and an equal number of other 40AEs whose numbers we're seeking. Any and all help is much appreciated. Cheers. Ted PS - as a newbie to this board I suppose the rules are the same here as elsewhere, so I am attaching a pic of my 40AE. She's no. 0711 and a true pleasure.

Hi, everyone:

I posted this information on the 911 40th Facebook page, on 911uk.com and also on Rennlist, and I thought that I would post it here, too for those who are not Facebook users or 911uk.com or Rennlist members.

Recently I came across a beautiful pic on Instagram of an artist's rendering of 911 40th nr. 0255, formerly owned by Bruce Trigg in Canada (Bruce just bought a 911 50th and the artist did a print of his 50th, too - both are stunning). In any event, I noticed that the print was of a stock 40th, which probably looks like most of our cars. Because our cars almost all look the same, I contacted the artist to see whether he'd be willing to do the same print for any of us. The artist's name is Steve Anderson. You may be familiar with Steve's work in the pages of Excellence Magazine, where he has been that publication's Staff Illustrator since 2001.

Steve has decided to offer us the opportunity to get one of these prints personalized by using our names and our cars' VINs (chassis numbers) and limited edition numbers. He said to pass along the following offer to all of you:

Pricing for an individualized, hand-finished and artist-signed 40th Anniversary Illustration is $149USD + S&H (unframed) or $299USD + S&H (framed as shown in the pic that I have provided). Prices are in US Dollars. Note that Steve does accept orders from outside the USA. Each piece would be created using the image in the picture that I provided (with or without rear wiper) and could be customized with items such as aftermarket wheels at an additional cost. It would be up to each owner to work out any customization directly with Steve. Steve said that the finished piece will include the car's specific VIN (chassis number), its limited edition number and its owner's name. They are printed on archival stock. Each original piece would be hand finished with colored pencil & gouache paints before being dated and signed by Steve. The unframed version would be mounted to an acid free foam core and set with a bevel-cut archival mat surround - finished dimensions are: w 20" x h 14". The framed version would be as shown in the pic with the previously mentioned mount & mat as well as a satin black hardwood frame with "gallery-spec" acrylic glazing - finished dimensions are: w 26" x h 17".

If you're interested in this opportunity please contact Steve directly at designsa@earthlink.net. Steve has a part of his website dedicated to this opportunity: http://www.saillustrations.com/iconlimitededitions.html
