450bhp 964RS hits Oulton Park next Friday

It seemed like a good idea at the time.....

No, not building the first ever 9m 4.0 litre race engine, that was inevitable. What is now pretty questionable was the sensibility of fitting of it into an almost stock RHD 964RS and then letting the wee beastie loose on the infamous NW Nurburgring on a cold day in November - especially now that the engine has posted a run of over 450bhp and 500Nm on the 9m chassis dyno.

Just to give you an idea of what the chassis will have to contend with, here is a comparison dyno plot of the 4.0 litre engine against our 964 Trophy Cup engine, both runs uncorrected. Impressive, huh? Best not to worry eh lads, after all we have Rob from Total 911 coming down for a testdrive so what could possibly go wrong?

At least with that sort of power curve you shouldn't have any trouble warming the rear tyres!

Shall we start a book on how much of the circuit is done travelling sideways?

Graph looks excellent - big fun to be had with that engine! Is it the full circuit you're on Colin?

And you're revving it to what!!![:-]

Have fun.

Yeah, I know, unfortunately the new billet rockers and high lift cams have not arrived so we have had to set the rev limiter below its 8500rpm design limit.

Full circuit on a no-novice day, although I believe we have special dispensation so that Rob can bring his mum if he gets scared.[;)]

So that's a Friday on the full circuit, in a 450bhp RS.......

Christmas isn't until December, you know!

Enjoy it - looking forward to seeing the reports!

I described the engine to Des the other day......."vertical intakes, foam 'Ninemeistered' filters..........." ...."Oooh , I'm getting a hard-on!!"

One sexy motor Colin!!

All our 9m64RS's and 9m93RS's will be built to order, so the customer can chose from a menu which starts with a completely standard engine and goes on to 3.6, 3.8 (big bore or long stroke standard bore) or 4.0 (& maybe 4.2!) capacities, standard or 9m billet heads, various sport/sprint/race/high lift race cams, Motec & other engine management, road or race intakes and standard or header exhaust systems. Obviously the choice will largely be down to price......
