We understand your Porsche Turbo X50 is producing 25 BHP more than we advertise.
Please immediately forward a cheque for a further £5000 as we are sure you would agree this is a fair pro-rata fee for the extra performance we have built in to your car.

I'm curious to know what mine might be (might go to G-Force sometime).
I guess this is power at the wheels and that they made some estimate for driveline losses.
It was also cool and damp this morning.
Was it showing 1 bar boost?
When I went with the C4S it was quieter than I thought it would be (even with sports exhaust), but it is a good way to hear it up close at high revs. Not something you usually get to hear from the outside.
I'm guessing the turbo is reasonably quiet.
I have seen it where cars produce more power with subsequent runs. It is possible a few full-on blasts helps to convince the ECU to deliver a bit more. So perhaps it reallty was a bit quicker on the way home.
If the figures are accurate, it would not completely surprise me.
With the X50 I can't see that there is much difference with the GT2. It's the same turbos, intercoolers, etc. as far as I know. GT2 makes 477 and the X50 450. I wondered if the X50 might be a bit understated to allow a gap for the GT2.

Sorry complete rubbish, the GT2 currently has 483 bhp, and 640 Nm of torque (against the 620 Nm for X50). I can't remember what it used to have, since they gave it a bit more about a year ago.

the visit was originally about something completely different (getting a 767 BHP 996 onto Festival track (YES 767 BHP)) and the rolling road was a bonus.Is this the first step in a tuning program, or just a curiosity value visit?
AMD believe they coudld get the car close to or at 500 just by reampping the ECU - but that has warranty implications...
I hope to get back there in the new year to write something for PP on the whole issue of software mapping for ECUs (AMD write their own software and can remap in real time whilst the car is on the rolling road)

I guess I feel good about it if only because the figure suggests that the engine is well tuned and running well (and the graph looks great on the garage wall...)

By what measure?
On lap times maybe, but down a snowy B-road, or in the pouring rain on an unfamiliar road?
What's the top end on yours Melv? (Not that it really matters).

In honesty I'm a little sceptical in general about the accuracy of some of these rolling roads (calibration, atmosperic adjustments etc etc!) it does seem unlikely that a standard car would push out an extra 26 odd horses over standard, that's nearly 6% more power & well outside the usual tolerances.
Having said this the press cars often seem to go mysteriously faster, just witness the original Carrera 2 posting faster times than the first GT3, so just maybe you have freinds in high places!
500+ BHP from a turbo is a relatively easy conversion, as you can see, mine is generating 520BHP, with remap and 200 cat exhaust. More impressive though is the massive torque that these engines generate when upgraded. 580nm to 700nm

had the TT on the rolling road at AMD Bicester today (web site) - official spec for the TT with X50 upgrade is 450 BHP - the output from mine reached 476.5 BHP at 5700 RPM.
seemed to go much faster on the way home...
(and the graph looks great on the garage wall)
nothing like the cold weather to pull up the BHP.....
I remember on my old Turbo car in the cold weather.. it certainly did go faster !

mine has run on the Amd rollers a few times [] and I do miss Turbo power [:-]
just saying that you'll prob' even more powerful on the road with the lower temps this time of year...... the joy of cold air ! cheapest performace mod.......ever !
