Sunday the 4th August, The Midlands Breakfast Club at RAF Cosford is a date for your diaries.

CANCELLED see below

This is a meet for people who have a passion about cars, whether it's sports, performance, retro or classic!

This is what Alistair, the guy who runs it, wrote when I made enquiries.

"as a fellow Porscheaphile (914, 944, 964, 996 owner!), I would be more
than happy to have as many of you guys a long as possible!
A number of my friends who are local normally come along which would
include a 1969 912, a 1962 356, a 1969 2.2S and a 1968 912.
Could be a good line up!
Could also try and get my mates Dad to drive up from Northampton in his
356. He's been to the meet a few times before and has always enjoyed it!"

RAF Cosford is about 20 miles from Birmingham, NW of Wolverhampton, 1 mile south of Junction 3 on the M54.

So apart from meeting fellow enthusiasts and having breakfast together, afterwards you can visit the museum which is free, where there are some great planes on display.
I remember seeing the very impressive English Electric Lightning suspended from the ceiling.

There's a small parking fee of £2 and to be in the display area you must arrive between 8:30 and 9am and be on my list or you will be directed to the general public carpark.

Breakfast is served between 9-10:30am and is typically £3 for a sausage or bacon bap with coffee or tea.

David, after the discussion at the Region 8 meeting @ the Coopers Arms I thought the RAF Cosford run sounded like a great idea. Unfortunately I can't make the 4th due to other committments. I'll try & join another event later in the year. Best wishes for a good turnout & good weather ! Paul 996 C2 40th Anniversary

We've been to this a few times, its a great relaxed event that's very easy to get to. Some super machinery usually on show in the carpark, let alone the museum- which is free to enter I can't make it myself as unfortunately the 4th August does seem to clash with quite a lot of events [] But I hope the region supports this.. we've even done a drive and lunch out after the show (quite a good drive actually [;)]) so maybe worth doing it again in the future..

I live very locally to RAF Cosford, So me and 'Old Red' will be there [:)] Hi just to add, my red is a 2.7, not a 3.2 [:D]

Now, that's the REAL Breakfast Club !....John We'll be there all being well. Err ! Since when was I just a 'Guest' !?

This is usually so close to me that I wouldn't even get the engine oil warm on the run there but - unfortunately - on the 4th it will be a few thousand miles from where I hope to be. Please let us know of any other Breakfast meets at Cosford.

Hi I would like to attend the 4th Aug meet. Have been a member for 25 years but never been on any events! May see you at Silverstone this Sunday? Nigel Barrett ps I have a 993 GT2 and a Panny 4S

Welcome to the forum Nigel. I'm sure David will add you to the list shortly.. To get yourself as a shown member on the forum, I find the easiest way is to post in this thread -> [link=http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=235860&mpage=21]http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=235860&mpage=21[/link] There are some areas of the forum that are members only and you'll then have full access [:)]

David and Coxy have been talking directly to each other, I'd hope that David would/will be informed if that is the case. There may be a delay but it looks to be cancelled. [link=https://www.facebook.com/MidlandsBreakfastClub]https://www.facebook.com/MidlandsBreakfastClub[/link]

well if the event is cancelled, that doesn't mean you can't go ? I'm quite happy to still pop along and park up in the general car park and have a coffee. Its a morning out and a chance to give the car a little run :)

Thanks for the warning Lindsay. I've had confirmation from Alistair that the next couple of meets are cancelled. I'll get back to you all after the Silverstone weekend.

I'm still up for a run up to this as long as I'm not on my own and the weather is half decent, nothing worse than sitting on your own in the wet, ask me how I know ?

Ill be there, as long as its not bucketing down :)

Another event that might do as an alternative is the BBQ at Cornbury House, see the latest PP page 8. It starts from 11am That's where I'm going and we'll organise to go to another Breakfast Club meet in the Autumn.
