I see Tims 944 is on Pistonheads for £40k. Unlikely there's a more powerful road going 944 in the UK, and seeing as it was pretty much a full resto, bodywork probably excellent too. No doubt he spent a lot of time and money building it, but when you extensively modify a 944 S2, will you see all your money again?

It probably won't sell for that but it's probably worth it! And to answer your question, no, never!

You've got to draw a line somewhere, but is the gearbox a service item at that output. And does it really need a dry sump setup. I bet it's crazy to drive, but I reckon a lightly modified 996/7tt would drive away from it.

Tim's line was very north of ridiculous but fair play, would be a hoot to drive, agree about 996/7tt. I read somewhere the turbo s box can be good for up to 600BHP, not sure if he kept the S2 box or what he done? Either way the box will be under tremendous strain at full beans along with the torque tube.

Long time since I spoke to him, but I think he was on the 2nd turbo gearbox then. I wouldn't have used an S2 as a base though.

On a smooth racetrack, and with some 968 RS parts, perhaps not. On the road I still think the 997 tt rear suspension and 4wd would put the power down better. Introduce some damp roads and the 944 would struggle IMO.

That's a great video. Love the soundtrack too....time to sort my little oil leak and get on a trackday...
