600BHP Boxster "Probably the most exciting road car in history"

Autocar have just tested the Carrera GT £330,000 pounds worth and have said

"The crux of this test is that Porsche has somehow managed to make its fastest production car feel like a 600bhp Boxster."

"The Carrera GT is like a 600bhp Boxster "S". You'd expect such an observation to bring violent response from the company's engineers, but that is just what they want to hear.

They deliberately wanted to sustain a tangible link between the uber-car and their little Boxster and it really does exist - from the familiar feel of the steering wheel rim to the weight of the rack itself, all the way down to the way it squirms in the hands at the straight ahead."

so can we say we have a 250bhp Carrera GT[:D][:D]

I prefer the other one, the top end boxster was initially supposed to be a 3.0 and called the 'RS' instead of the 'S'
Wonder why they changed their mind ?

The GT is getting fantastic reviews - Merc must be more than a little miffed as the SLR seems to have had a very cool reception. If I had the means, then the GT would be the one, no question.

Well you may be able to - I can only claim to have a 220bhp Carrera GT!!!

[8D]Good point well argued and at least Porsche had the sense to use the DNA from the pucker sports car in the family [;)]

So, has anyone noticed the remarkable resembelence between the driver of the GT in Autocar, and a certain Editor of a well-established monthly Porsche magazine...?[;)]
