718 2.5 Brake Caliper questions

Hiya

Would anyone with a better knowledge than me be able to clarify a question I have regarding the front and rear brake calipers I have on my Cayman 718 S

My understand is the front calipers on the car are taken from a previous generation 911. Would anyone be able to clarify which exact model.

Like wise are the rear ones from a previous vehicle.

If if anyone is sure and they can help it would be appreciated so I don't purchase the wrong upgraded pads

Thanks Jamie

Jamie,

According to the technical spec press release from Porsche, the 718 Cayman S 2.5 uses the brakes from the 2017 911 Carrera, the 991.2 model. However, the press info doesn't say whether the brakes are from the base Carrera or the Carrera S version. The rear brakes are not mentioned in the press release, so I would assume they are the same as on the previous 981 Cayman S.

The 718 2.0 uses the standard braking system previously fitted to the 981 Cayman S.

If I were you, to avoid purchasing the incorrect pads, I would source my first set of replacement pads from my OPC. We get 10% discount as PCGB members and no postal charges as you will have with an online purchase. I have had no brake fade issues at all with the OE pads on my 718 CS.

I hope this helps.

Brian
