just been offered a place on a 718 boxster/cayman drive at Silverstone Porsche experience centre for me and my friend, off the dealer I purchased my car off 7 months ago, just has any one else in the club been offered these? booked for me and my friend for Monday 13 feb at 10.20 am,my friend has always had tvrs,he has a sargaris and a Tuscan and a fiesta st 215 at the moment and he was really happy when I asked him if he wanted to try out the 718 boxster and cayman at the centre, I went on one of these back when the 987 went to gen 2 in 2009 and enjoyed it ,he said to me when I booked it for us "Porsche really looks after their customers".looks like we will drive up on the sunday and book a hotel as Silverstone is about 150 miles away.

Yes, bought my 2015 981 Boxster S last September and received an invitation today. All booked on and very much looking forward to the event. When I bought the car the sales manager said that ownership was like being part of a family which, at the time, I put down to sales talk. Anyway, OPC Swindon have been fantastic ever since and I was genuinely delighted to be offered an experience I only ever thought was offered to buyers of new vehicles.

Yep
bought mine pre Xmas from east London
booked for Thursday 16 Feb with my youngest- first time for him
about the 7th for me ??

Booked on as well.

I purchased mine in March 2016 from Portsmouth but subsequently invited by my local dealer.

Are they any good?

Bought mine in October 2016 from Nottingham. A nice email surprise yesterday, booked in on Tues 14th.

looking forward to it

Fingers crossed for you, or is it a ploy to try and convert the F6 owners

Got mine April '16 from Porsche Silverstone. Porsche Experience offer was provided in the deal and I took that up in Dec '16 using experience car of same spec as mine. Terrific education about what it might do (in the right hands!). Really good 'bonding' experience with the marque. Blown away tbh. Thouroughly recommended to anyone. Tip - make sure you drive a car to your own car's spec first time. Try the GTs next time.

Off on the 14th for an early start (but at least we get beakfast) - the 981S came from Porsche cambridge so I guess thank you to them.

We did ours a couple of weeks ago, which was some time after collecting the new car in September.

Silverstone had a backlog for 718 drives as they didn't get the vehicles any quicker than any of the dealerships and so spent quite a bit of time playing catch-up.

I was told that normally Porsche GB like to get you on the event before you finalise you order in order to tempt you with a few extras, but personally I quite liked doing the experience once i was comfortable with the car, it mean that I was able to enjoy it more.

looking forward to the event on Monday, decided to book a hotel,in towcester, the Saracens head hotel, also decided to drive up sunday in my focus as the weather might be bad on weekend, and it will do 60 mpg +,and lots of salt on roads

If it's of any assistance I would say the following:

If you get the chance, go. The food is very good, and the driving experience is absolutely awesome. If there's another model on the fleet when you get there - such as the GT3RS when I went - ask nicely and you may get a few laps in the passenger seat. For what it may be worth I'm fairly sure it's Porsche UK that organises them rather than the dealership. (Apologies if this point has been made already but it's late and I'm tired.)

Depending on your requirements the Northampton Hilton offers half-decent accommodation at a reasonable rate (and is used by the Club for events at Silverstone). Just off the M1 J.15 and around 15 minutes' drive from the centre.

Thanks for the info, appetite suitably whetted for tomorrow

went to drive event today ,really good time,i had a Scottish driving instructor ,and managed to push the cars to their limit, even the std 2.0l boxster is quick 82mph in second gear had few goes in a s and non s boxster and cayman, pdk and manual. launch control in a s ,pdk is awesome, and 60 to 0 in about 2 seconds, handling and braking really good,(my mate who has 2 tvrs could not believe how good the cars are handling and braking) what I say don't be put off the new engines, they are much quicker than the 6 cylinder engines, and the driveability lower down the rev range is better (more torque)and you can still rev them to over 7000rpm.(having had 3 boxsters a 986s,987and 981,you could not really tell that the cars have 2 less cylinders)I work in engine testing field (dynos) and I can say Porsche have developed these engines well (much better than some i4 turbo engines I have seen)and the stick we gave the cars today really proves how good the cars are.
