718 T - Limited number car or not?

Hi All,
I visited an OPC recently because they had 718 T Boxster in the showroom which I wanted to look at. In general I was impressed by the look and feel of the car but given that the vehicle in question was Miami Blue with yellow calipers, gloss black spoiler & wheels etc it was not to my taste (a bit too "look at me!").
I expressed this to the sales rep and enquired about building a car to my spec and he replied saying that the 718T is a limited number can and that each OPC has been given an allocation of 1 vehicle.
Can anyone confirm whether this is correct? There is no mention of this on the Porsche website and I can still configure one on there.
There are a few dealers that have had physical cars but they a optioned (not performance related) up to the hilt, some looking very chintzy, which surely defeats the object of a T!
Thanks,
Tom

Tom,

I can’t believe the T is a limited production car, although it’s quite possible that currently there are only a limited number of build slots available to the dealers. Dealer spec’d cars are always well-optioned.

At the moment all Caymans are being built in Stuttgart along with the other sports cars but I believe that there are plans to move production back to Osnabrück in Northern Germany after the annual shutdown in July/August which may improve availability, although GT4 production is also due to start then.

Maybe the sales rep was just very anxious to shift the car in the showroom and saw you as fair game?

Something very weird with Porsche at the moment with 2 or 3 models they can't give a build slot date now or for the foreseeable all very frustrating if your after a particular model.
Not good. [:'(]
