Many thanks for this link; as a non-mechanically minded person I found it to be very informative and interesting.

Thanks Ralph for posting that very interesting video link on the 718 Boxster S.

It's certainly a packed engine bay with all that intercooler and turbo pipework, and a well thought out package from Porsche as you would expect.

The development potential for further performance increases of the flat 4 power plant will already be in hand no doubt. I would think the forthcoming 718 GTS Cayman could set a new performance benchmark for the mainstream mid-engined marque, previously the exclusive territory of the GT cars. It all depends on those dreaded marketing suits again!

Interesting times ahead..........

Thanks Ralph. Once again we have to rely upon our US cousins to give us some useful tech insight.

One thing that wasn't mentioned in the video is that the air intake on the right-hand side provides fresh air to the air-to-water intercooler, presumably to prevent the intercooler itself from overheating.

He said it runs a 9.5:1 compression ratio and a 1.1 - 1.4 bar boost, so a lower compression but higher boost than that used on the 911's (smaller) twin turbo arrangement.

A neat mid-engine package with plenty of development potential I would say.

Jeff
