'73 RSR Replica project

Just thought I'd give an update on my RSR project.. only 6 weeks to get before I pick her up - woohoo!
If everything goes to plan, I should have her ready for the trip to the PCGB annual event. Are we doing a convoy from the Ace Cafe again this year?

Ash
Just checked out this and other threads regarding your car and the Cannonball 8000. Car looks ace - and glad you got through the event ok.
I had entered the event myself, (was Car 10) but after the Gumball accident, bad press and a major project in Austria (work) I decided to call it a day and forfeit the event (plus a bucket load of dosh[]). Maybe right to- maybe not? But at least didn't have to spend time agonising whether or not I get the car impounded by the German authorities.
So would you recommend the Cannonball experience? And would you do it again? And more importantly would you build another car again?
Cheers Graham

Hey you live in chiswick!

Dam thats only a hop and a skip away from putney :p I thought i was going to be the only yellow '73 rsr in town :p

Orange, it's orange!! When will your RSR be ready? We'll have to do some runs across London!

RE Cannonball 8000. It was a bit of a cock up this year to be honest. Germany said we couldn't go through their country but the organisers only told us this at 11:30pm when we were in Brussels. Helen and I dived into bed to get a few hours sleep before getting up at 2am to drive 1000+ miles round Germany. Nightmare! quite a few went through germany anyway and 30 cars got impounded at a cost of €2000 each. Our car couldn't cope with the extra miles unfortunately, and the alternator gave up on us in Austria [:(]. We finished the rally in a hire car which was quite upsettling, but at least we made it. I think next year will be much more fun as Conrad should learn a lot from this year. We raised almst £3,000 for charity, so it was worth it in the end!
I'll do next year I think, but only if Conrad will do me a deal. Got some pics here: http://picasaweb.google.com/ashrolfe/Cannonball80002007Pictures

Ashley,

Was that you in the Kew Road traffic light queue near Richmond Circus about 1130am on Saturday ? Car looks and sounds great......[:)]

That was me!! I'm glad you like the sound of it.. My neighbours can't stand it [:D]
I'd just installed a Steve Wong chip so I wanted to give her a bit of a run but there was a chemical spillage in Richmond so the traffic was a nightmare.

Ash, glad to see you're enjoying the car. Bringing it along to the Ace on wed so we can have a look? [;)]

Cheers, John

Hya John. I'm gutted to say that it won't be there on Wednesday [:(]. It has to go back to JZ Machtech today to have new suspension, new fuel pump, new clutch, gearbox rebuild amongst other things. Looks like I may be splitting this one across a few credit cards! After that it's going back to RS911 to have the chrome window surrounds, the correct exhaust, and spotlights installed! woohoo!

So it will be ready for the next Ace meet on 31 October and being Halloween the Orange will fit well... [:)]
