8" Rims at the front anyone?

Does anyone run with 8" rims at the front?

I have just stuck my 8" teledials on my M030 car and to say that the gap between the wheel and the calipers is small would be an understatement... its Rizzla paper close!

Am I just asking for trouble? or is the likely hood of brake meets wheel non existant?

My 18's are 8.5" on the front, but I guess that isn't relevant if you're talking 8x16's.

I run 8/17" et 70mm with 235 45 tyres,,,at the front BUT theyve got 18mm spacers fitted too....

I have a set of 8" / 16 D90,s that i was going to stick some rubber on ,, but just not got round to it...
My 17" Mich pilot cups just keep running + running , without much wear....[8|][8|]
Ill just have to try harder...[;)][;)]

Dave,
I've got my 8x16" D90's with kevin at the moment getting powder coated, I guess I'll have to check what the clearance is on those... I still have time to get the MPC's swapped over before I go to Spa & the Ring in May. I'm gutted cos the car looks really nice with the black wheels... kinda US spec.

What's the clearacne like on your car?

When you say clearance,,,, Where do you mean.???
No probs with arch clearance.at the front..In fact i could go wider with the spacers....
I do have issues at the rear...IF i fit 6mm shims the rear wheels rub on the arch....[][] Thats with 9/17" et55 cup 1,s or 2,s....
The rear arches need rolling / grinding away....[;)][;)]

What width MPC,s are you runninmg on the 8" rims.??

Dave
Im running 245 45 16 cups all round.
I dont have any issues with tyres against the arches... on the road anyway[&:]

I meant what clearence do you have between the caliper and the back of the wheel...

Ive no probs with the calliper clearance,, but then again i aint fitted the wheels without spacers....So ive got at least 18/20mm ...

Provided the wheel bearings don't wear they shouldn't get any closer. The weights took the paint of my (reasonably big blacks painted red) on my 16x 7" fronts but that was on top not the side.
