82 911 sc gear linkage

Not sure what you mean by a linkage repair kit John but to put the shift back in tip-top shape replace the plastic bushing at the base of the gearshift lever and also the coupling that connects the shifter rod to the gearbox input shaft for starters and replace your current gearbox oil with Swepco 201, also check the condition of the rubber on the gearbox mounts.

I recently replaced all the gear linkage bushes. I got the parts from Eurocarparts (eurocarparts.com).

- Shifter coupling cost £42 +VAT.
- Shifting guides x2 types (one's a cup/socket which the gear shifter base clicks into, the other is a guide bush which the linkage bar slides inside)- about £4.95 each +VAT.

See pelicanparts.com for a 'how to' on changing the bushes and adjusting it once it's back together.

Good Luck,

Rich

You could also try design 911 on 0208 500 8811. They were very helpful for parts when I had a gearbox re-build

Just fitted two new bushes to mine - the ball/socket one at the base of the gearlever, and the guide for the linkage. Re. the guide, is there a knack to pushing the new bush it into the metal support ? I managed it in the end but there has to be an easier way !

It's definitely made the box better but I'm still having a bit of difficulty from 3rd to 2nd - needs more force that the other changes. Shift coupler and new oil next...
cheers
Matt
